Another developer (NoDRM) took over the maintenance of the plugin from Apprentice Harper (who took over the maintenance from Apprentice Alf). The apprenticeharper verson is out-of-date and won't work.

It differs in the fact that it works with Calibre 6. Plus, if you use the current code (not the 1.0.0.3 version), you can remove the DRM from the hardened DRM that's part of ADE 4. Also the new version works with eBooks from B&N.

The latest release is 10.0.3 (July 13, 2022). It's working for me. If I run into problems with ADE 4 (who knows) or BN (never), I'll look it up here.

A fork is when developer(s) take the source code from an open source project and start independent development on it. In this case, since Apprentice Harper was no longer going to be working on DeDRM, noDRM created a fork and continued development of the project. The forked version has added some DRM removal options, fixed some bugs and added the code to allow using the project on Python 2 (older calibre versions) and Python 3 (calibre 5 & 6).
