Long MOBI to PDF conversion failed.

Hi. I was trying to convert the Oxford advanced learner’s dictionary from mobi to pdf as it appears there is no way to read the mobi. (Calibre takes too long to load pages and kindle app refuses due to it being 200mb+ and mobireader says it’s corrupted) I started converting it 3 days ago and today I got an error saying “ Load of clbr://internal.invalid/book/index.html failed” I need a solution. Is there any way to actually read this mobi in a viable way or is there any way to resume the conversion and fix the error? I don’t feel like waiting another 3 days.
Spoiler:

Why did you buy a MOBI if you don't have the wherewithal to view it?

Do search for "mobi viewer for <my platform - e.g. IOS, Linux, whatever>", and/or "Oxford advanced learner’s dictionary PDF".

If you have a 'real' mobi, you could buy an buy an old Kindle, they're as cheap as chips on eBay.

Why look for a Mobi viewer when calibre's viewer will do? Also, why convert this Mobi to PDF when ePub will do?

It's a 2,000+ page dictionary Jon - there's a scanned page PDF at archive.org. The MOBI probably came from a torrent.

Why is it in Mobi? That's a terrible format for this.

Actually, it isn't. Back in the days when the Kindle was young, MOBI dictionaries were the standard format it used. And they were a non-standard MOBI format that was specific for dictionaries. At the time I had a Cybook Gen3 that could use them as well.

And I also know that they were (almost) impossible to convert to anything else, although I don't know/remember the technical whys and wherefores. Perhaps the OP is running into one of those.

That sounds logical. I'm glad most new Readers don't use Mobi dictionaries any longer.

Got it for free to study. There are no pdfs of it as far as I’ve looked. No mobi reader works

PDFs are easier to read and calibre’s viewer takes far too long saying “loading next section” and is only on pc

What did your last servant die of. Ask the institution who 'gave' you the MOBI how to get a PDF, or how to read their MOBI.

@ Joh
Does it have to be a pdf? I’ve had a quick search and there is a stardict version 8th edition available at http://download.huzheng.org/bigdict. However I don’t know if it is in the public domain.

I think BR was reacting to your demand (rather than request) for a link.

Anyway hope you get sorted somehow.
