A rare (for me) re-read of Hugh Howey's Wool (actually a listen this time around). I wanted to do so before I get too heavily invested in the new Apple TV+ series.

Sounds interesting. That's a title I have yet to read. (I'll pop my Delphi Collection back onto my ebook reader and get to it after I finish about 10 more books on my TBR list. That will also be a nice way to remind me to re-read Crime and Punishment - a masterpiece!)

Thank you for mentioning this one.

Then I read Birthright by Mike Resnick. Disappointing future history short stories about how awful the human race is.

Now reading A Picture of Murder. T E Kinsey's fourth Lady Hardcastle mystery.

Which was fun, but with a completely implausible mechanism in one place.

Next up: a random pick from the TBR pile: The Laughing Policeman by Sjöwall & Wahlöö. The fourth in their Martin Beck novels.

You are welcome. It also has another title, but it's the name of the town/whatever where it all takes place and its not easy to remember, so I just used that title.

I've been through a number of books since my last post, but I am reading Michelle Zauner's stellar memoir Crying in H Mart right now. She did an in person reading here with my local indie and I was able to snag an autographed copy.

Just finished School Days, the latest Solar Clipper book from Nathan Lowell. As with all his books, it's all about the characters and how they resolve the everyday problems they face. Of course, now that Ishmael and Pip are rich, their problems are subject to somewhat different resolutions than when they were both Quarter Share on the Lois. However, I really like where this new chapter in their lives is going -- I think it's the right place. And while this book brought four core characters together, I'd really hope to see some others make an appearance in later books. But it's all good. A solid 5 star read for me, something that's becoming harder to find.

Well, I finished Montauk, by Max Frisch. I somehow got side-tracked on reading Malina, by his good friend Ingeborg Bachmann. But that's OK: I'll get to it after I finish my two current reads listed below:

Life & Times of Michael K, by J.M. Coetzee. I have about 35 pages left on this. This is a sad book on human suffering, but one that also celebrates the value of every individual who seeks a voice in overcoming the tyranny of mindless governmental control. This book won the Booker Prize for Best Novel. And, of course, Coetzee won the Nobel Prize in Literature [2003].

I'm also reading Post Office, by Charkes Bukowski, which is a hoot.

When I finish those two, I'll likely gravitate to Ms. Bachmann's book, an author I'm looking forward to reading...like, RIGHT NOW! RIGHT NOW, I SAY!!!

I'm currently reading "Hamnet" by Maggie O'Farrell. Wonderfully written book about the death of Shakespeare's son from the plague, the father writing Hamlet 4 years later. After not being able to wait till my last horrible book was over, this is a breath of fresh air, it's so wonderfully written.

Books like this are one reason I check Amazon kindle deals of the day. This one popped up one day for 1.99.

I liked it a lot, too. Thanks for the tip that it had been released. I'm looking forward to the next books in the series.
