A date like "10/12/2004" -- is that October 12 or December 10?

I wish people would just stick to yyyy-mm-dd - it also sorts correctly.

Even worse was 12 to 22 years ago but with 2 digit years.

OTOH, we use dd-mm-yyyy here and that's what I've been used to since I was a child.

And yeah, it's annoying when people in other countries use different variants. Why can't they all use the same way as Me, Myself and I???

Why aren't the 1/2W resistors all on the same page like clothing color or size choice?
Refills for just about anything sold initially as a (sampler) set.

I walk into a hardware store and the nails are mostly (specialty ones might also be with the use item) in the same spot. Paint with others colors...

The Grocery has Pasta in the same area. Soup... Fresh veggies...

Yet Amazon also bought... is so out of sync with the current item.

Say what? 1/2 Watt? I don't even use 1/4 Watt any more.
Occasionally for perfboard stuff I have tons of 1/8 Watt.
Mostly it's 0805 SMD (1/10 Watt) resistors.

I think yyyy mm dd makes the most sense. But really I would adapt to amy format as long as we could all agree and use the same one around the world.

If we're looking to avoid ambiguity then the options should be:

yyyy-mm-dd

Or variations of:
dd-mmm-yyyy eg: 2-Jun-2023
mmm-dd yyyy eg: Jun-2 2023


Then again, just having a date of any sort would help a lot of articles on the web.

I know my nephew prefers the sound from vintage tube amps over the newer models. Although I think I remember him saying that there are some companies now manufacturing tube amps.
