Have you ever accidentally purchased a book twice?

I've had this happen before, though always with the freebies. I see an interesting-looking book, decide to grab it, and then Calibre informs me that it's a duplicate of a book in my library. (Or, if I'd cleaned the title of "a novel of blahblah" crap, I occasionally fail to notice until later.) Ah, the problems of purchasing eBooks from multiple websites. |

For example Susannah Kearsley and Tania Crosse have books released under different titles. Only got caught out once though. |

Yes, a couple of times. I was sure I did not have it and didn't bother to check in Calibre, so of course I noticed as soon as I added the new book there or cleaned up the metadata. I returned those books immediately. Without Calibre there would be ten times more, as I buy from several different stores and always have. |

Once a new paperback, Once a S/H from a charity shop And once an Amazon ebook. Mysteriously not shown as "Purchased, Read Now" (I check Calibre first now). |

Hmm never happened to me with a paper book. I have only had about 1000 paper books (less now, as I got rid of some) and several times as many ebooks, so while I usually remembered with the former, it's no longer possible to remember everything with the latter.

Yes, but now I don't remember which book. Sometimes I forget to check if I already own the book with calibre. And sometimes there is no alternative: You buy a book in a series and then they publish the whole series together and it is less expensive than buy the remaining books none by one. |

Oh yeah, omnibuses. I have some overlapping books there but didn't really think of them.

I usually delete the overlapping books from Calibre when I have the omnibus. | |

Oh! I did not think of omnibus that came in a Baen Bundle (even with that, a bundle was still a good deal, just not as good ) |

I always use Calibre to split omnibuses. Apache |

I split omnibuses when they're unrelated books. But the series ones I don't bother.

I actually prefer omnibuses to single books.

Where I've purchased all the books in a series, I will combine them into an omnibus. Reduces the number of books shown in my library and handy for when I want to binge read a series.
