calibre-6.17.0 Book Info View Has Changed

I just updated from calibre-5 to calibre-6.17.0 and wonder why the column on the right with the book info has changed. It has a lot of extra blank space above and below the book photo. Is this just me or does everybody's look like this (see attached)? The first image is from calibre-5 and the second is from calibre-6.17.0.

Use the sliders between the cover and the book details and between book details and the library list to make them the size you want. The sliders are marked with dots.

Slightly (I thought schools were teaching basic computer user skills after all the funding we voted . From all the questions is see here, that lesson seems to have been skipped. BTW one of the reasons I keep my system near 'vanilla', is to allow me to describe to a remote user, what to look for. Almost impossible if they have a cute theme applied )

Watch your mouse arrow as you move between areas of almost any program. It changes to a double bar with arrows (with normal system supplied mouse pointers.) when the boundary is adjustable. 'Details' has 2 that I have seen. Calibre has done a great job sticking with GUI 'standards of use'

At the edge of windows: it changes to just a double headed arrow, indicating the window can be resized (there) by dragging in the arrow directions.

to be fair, I imagine a lot of MR users are quite a few years (or decades!) out of school.

I noticed the OP's screen shots show a single dot slider indicator, on Windows I get three.

For similar reasons I keep a vanilla portables on hand, I can mess with them without impact on my own settings and libraries.

You mean those of us of an age when the only gadget allowed was slide rule, calculators were electro-mechanical, the size of a typewriter, and god-damn noisy.

The IBM PC appeared almost 20Y after I graduated from HS.

I did work with Mini's (DEC PDP-8L) in the 70's. No Graphics, No CRT. An ASR33 Teletype was I/O (7 bit ASCII). I mostly bootstrapped myself into the Information age (I was a trained Electronics tech).
But I also voted Tax $ to the schools so they could prepare students .

I still have 2 slide rules. Electronic calculators were available but very pricey in 1974. One child in the whole school had one. Five years later slide rules were out and calculators in - they could even do logarithms.

OK...I guess I deserve that. Believe me, I'm not computer illiterate at all but I totally missed this one. Thank you for your help!
