Well the post before this does give the description of one such average person and the trouble with it. Granted it was purchased at Fry's, but same difference in this case.

I have to say I'm interested to hear their opinion too. Although, I have a feeling I already know what it will be.

No, you and kelly1010 never purchased jetBook and never tested it. It will be interesting to hear the opinion of the person who already purchased it.

As I wrote before I have many friends who used jetBook for several months and they like it and many of them has no idea about DRM. Nobody from them returned jetBook. By the way, one person has both jetBook and Sony 505 and He likes jetBook more because it is more portable and more handy to use outside of home.

It will be interesting to get more details from Kelly's friend because it is not very clear what was the problem with her jetBook.

She was trying to download a book from the bestseller list that had DRM. I realize now that she must not have known that the Jetbook won't accept DRM'ed files. This happened a couple weeks ago, and at that time I had never heard about Jetbook. But now that I've gotten familiar with ereaders and formats, I know why she was having problems.

It was possible LIT. Doesn't the Jetbooks say it supports that? So, she probably d/led a LIT from somewhere and couldn't get it to work on the Jetbook.

No, jetBook has no any information that it supports LIT the same as Kindle has no any information that it supports FB2 format

I don't know what format she was trying to download. I wasn't paying enough attention because, honestly it didn't really matter to me. The point is, it didn't work because it was DRM'ed.

Opps... sorry you are right. Perhaps she did the same thing I did when I first got me eReader. I heard Leo Laprote talk about McCollums books and they they were available as ebooks. So, I did a google search and found the book at ereader.com. I bought the book... and guess what, it didn't work on my Sony.

Lesson learned.

I see you still keep your Sony reader and you don't hate Sony for it, right?

Yes I kept it, because I had another DRM option. Although the book I wanted wasn't in the Sony store. Luckily McCollum was nice enough to send me the Sony/PDF version that he sells at his own web site.

Also, I learned to "liberate" books. But, I've been using PCs since I was 13 so I don't think I'm your average non-techie ebook reader.

Look at how many posts there are here of people who don't even know what a terminal or command window is.
