Does the Kobo Store Ever Have Sales on Ebooks?
Quote:
Always take a screenshot. Definitely. I’ve had the prices change back on Amazon between the time I bought the book on Kobo and the time that Kobo responded to the price match request. Having that screenshot has always saved me. It never occurred to me to use an ereaderiq.com link. I’ll file that one away for future use. The best price match I ever had was for a Brandon Sanderson book. I believe the book was $15.99 on Kobo but on sale for $1.99 on Amazon. Kobo matched it. You can’t, which is very annoying, because the first thing they request is usually the screenshot. All we can do is take the screenshot, file the price match request, and then wait to supply the evidence when they reply. Last edited by Cootey; 02-23-2023 at 10:55 AM. |

I recently noticed a Harper Collins sale advertised on Twitter, so I thought I’d reply here again. Kobo does offer sales, but many times they are Indy only. Those are often the ones filling your mailbox if you sign up to Kobo’s mailing list. If you follow @Kobo on Twitter, they will occasionally post sales with the hashtag #KoboDeals. The only problem is that most of those sales are Canada only, but they are from major publishers. The Big 5 don’t like to discount ebooks often, and when they do, it’s often Kindle only. I waited three years to catch “12 Rules” by Jordan Peterson on sale. I waited two years for “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins has *never* been on sale. It is always $17.99 on all platforms. I keep waiting… The best method is to have eReaderIQ alert you to a Kindle sale, then press Kobo to price match if they haven’t already. |

I wish I had known! I would have told you. It was on sale for $4.99 on 2/15. I just happened to look at my wishlist that day. I didn’t have a price watch set up for it.

I’ve configured eReaderIQ to email me when a book goes on sale, then an Apple Script launches when the email arrives and texts me. Since I’m buried in email, I often missed the sales in the past. |

Kodansha Comics is currently having a sale on B&N and Kobo only as far as I can tell. B&N has a landing page for it. (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/kod...ice%7C0&page=1) Everything in the first 11 pages is free. Basically, the number one issues are free on select Kodansha manga. The rest are 50% off. Find something you want at B&N, then search for it on Kobo.com. It'll have the same price, at least with all the manga I tested. Of course, this isn't helpful if you aren't into manga, but it's a sale! Haha I was happy for it.

The publishers control the sales not the vendors. if you look the same sales on Amazon kindle are also listed on nook and kobo as well on the most part

In case you're still waiting, I noticed today by chance that Kobo US has it for $1.99.

Stating the obvious, the recurring gift card promotions amount to a sale across the board, even for Big Five imprints. The current promotion, spend $60 and get $10, is a 14.3% discount which isn't shabby. Also stating the obvious, the credit sits in your account if you want to wait on a sale price, unlike Amazon's "exploding" bonus credits.
