Calibre "freezes"

If I click anywhere in the Preferences->Add your own columns window the Create a custom column window disappears and calibre freezes. I can get it back by going into another application, e.g. Firefox, and minimising it

This will be because that dialog erroneously has the main window as its parent. It's chaley's code so hopefully he will see this and fix it.

It doesn't for me. I open the create column window. Clicking in the column list does nothing. Clicking anywhere else in calibre makes it flash. It never hides or minimizes. (On windows 10 current source).

I cannot get Calibre to free on the Add your own columns dialog.

OK, pretty sure its the extra Title Buttons tool (ATB) I use, if I kill it the problem goes away - and I suspect its because of a Windows Update - possibly the one I installed this morning.

If I exclude the "calibre - Preferences - Add your own columns" window from ATB the problem goes away. Initially, I tried excluding the "Create a custom column" window but that didn't have any effect.

I'll let the ATB folks know, then they can do battle with Seattle

I've also had 4t tray Minimizer (which also adds a stay-on-top button) glitch and trap a Calibre window under another. (Thankfully exclusion worked for it.) Kind of a soft-lock; the program's still responding but you can't access it.

Interesting, how recently did your 4T gadget playup.

I clicked the wrong Cancel after taking a screenshot to post here. Given my ineptitude with the mouse I can't believe I haven't done that before.

When chaley couldn't reproduce the problem, I tried Safe mode - no problem there; so, I knew it had to one of my add-ons - ATB was the obvious candidate.

Several years back.

From what I remember, I was alt+tabbing around and one of the Job Spy (I think) dialogs managed to get trapped behind the main Calibre window. I either managed to get it back somehow or just kill Calibre, but adding it to the exception list and it hasn't happened since.

I've also had it glitch dialogs/modal windows in another application. Unfortunately, excluding didn't work there. But fortunately, that program saves the window positions. so I just make sure it's sized so that the window isn't completely hidden and I can 'grab' it to pull it back up top.

I think Calibre also saves window positions so this might be a solution
