I am going to vent about back pain. I fell in February, backwards in my apartment. It wasn't so bad the first two weeks but then it got worse and seemed to spread from very low back on up. I saw a back doctor yesterday and got a prescription for PT and Diclofenac. The pill helped a lot last night but today not much at all, but I can't take Advil on top of that.

I spent a lot of time on the phone with Humana to get PT lists that are close to me. I'm in NYC and need to walk to m appointments or maybe just take a short bus ride. I called 3 times before I got a list that included my zip code. The other lists included PTs in New Jersey, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn. Then I spent a lot of time trying to make an appointment at a specific place on West 57th Street. I have to wait until 4/25 to get in for my first appointment. I've been through all of this with knee PT. I went for five months in 2021 and still having bad knee pain, still do the exercises and swim laps. I see the knee doctor next Monday.

Did they take X-rays or any other films or anything like that? Ultrasounds, etc.? Do you know if possibly you cracked something in your spine, or...?

What's a bit odd is the increasing pain over time, IF the fall was your typical strained a muscle, pulled something sort of fall. That's why I was wondering about possible cracks--those CAN become breaks.

The doctor said there were no fractures (cracks are fractures). I had figured that since I had no trouble walking or getting up after I fell. They took x-rays. I have never had an MRI for my knees or back. Many years ago I had a stress fracture from running in my shin. The doctor saw that on an x-ray. The pain from that was unbearable for a while.

I've had cracks--and yes, whilst they are minor, relatively, to full-scale breaks and all that--they didn't show up on x-rays. I had a broken big toe (yes, really, Iknow, it sounds dorky but not only could I not wear a shoe for 9 months, but OMG, it hurt) and they had to do something other than an X-ray to find the damage. It was called something tongue-twisty like "a comminuted something-something fracture." NINE MONTHS to heal, and it kept breaking.

My mother also had some sort of tricky, not-visible-on-x-rays "fracture/cracks" in her ribs, about...15 years ago.

Anyway, that's why I asked, It sounds odd to me that the fall hurt less two weeks ago than it does now. I'd wondered if indeed you could have cracked something in your spine and then subsequently somehow made it worse?

I think I made it worse by just sitting or sleeping. I had a fracture in my little toe that showed on an x-ray years ago. X-rays should show all fractures and slight cracks. There was a new message to the portal today but it didn't have the report that I get after visits to the knee doctor in the same office. It added to all my diagnoses that I've had from Northwell "Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis of thoracolumbar region." That is nothing new to me and I wouldn't go to a doctor to learn that. It was there all my life, including before I fell. That isn't what hurts. I also have osteoporosis of the spine, so I was lucky not to get a fracture.

I forgot about King's Day (27th), and King's Night the night before, and how I wanted to get away from the noise of the (live) music, like I did before Covid. But now it's too late; anywhere peaceful is either booked full or is too expensive.

My current plan is make sure I've charged my noise cancelling headphones, to keep the worst of the noise out, on King's Night watch some loud action movies with the headphones on. On King's Day I'll go get some snacks in the morning, when everything is quiet and spend the afternoon again with my headphones on and crafting.

Luckily, this should be the last time I have to endure this.

Covid just shut down the facility my wife was going to have a ladies retreat at for the weekend, so my weekend of batching it ended before it even began.

Not that I was going to do much besides binge the Resident Evil movies, but as she doesn't like zombie movies, and we live in a small condo, I can't ask her to go into the bedroom and shut the door for 8hrs straight

Oh, that sucks. I know I used to really enjoy when Mr. H left for weekends, holidays, and all that. A little privacy, bon-bons and couch-telly-watching fun are good things!

I'm kinda with her on the endless Zombie flick invasion, but...I did like the first 3-4 of those, if memory serves. :-) That last one, the one that didn't have whats-er-face? BLERGH-level bad.
