Hello everyone. A few months ago I commented on the forum that I am working on an epub3 on calibre using several mathematical symbols. I've been using a lot of html5 and uft8 math symbols, plus very basic css settings, no flexbox or grid, just regular boxes.
Yesterday I received a kobo n647 which I bought on purpose to test my epub on older devices. The truth is that the stylesheet doesn't work at all, also, many uft8 and html5 symbols don't even show. Am I doing something wrong? I just threw my epub on the kobo by connecting it by cable. I don't have much experience with these devices so I am asking for advice from those who have more experience with these. |

Most epub3 and maths won't work on any eink ereader. You need epub3 compliant apps on iOS and Android. The Kobos do support some epub3, maybe more if it's a kepub file. I don't know if the N647 even does kepub, it's so prehistoric too old for here:
https://pgaskin.net/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html Earliest is the Kobo Touch N905 (3 versions). The Kobo N647 is also called Kobo Wireless, released 15 October 2010. The Kobo Touch (N905) was a year later (2011) and about the oldest Kobo you want to even think about. https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/artic...or-Kobo-tablet https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobo_eReader and https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kobo (This site) Of course nearly anything will work on a suitable Linux, Mac or Windows desktop/laptop viewer. Did you embed the fonts and select Publisher font on the Kobo? But maybe the Kobo Wireless N647 / N47 doesn't have that. Last edited by Quoth; 04-12-2023 at 12:23 PM. |

Well, I tried to convert the epub to kepub with Kepubify but it didn't work eather, the device doesn't even open the kepub. I'll try with the kobo app and see what happens.

The app is not the same as actually using a Kobo Reader. It's time you buy a more recent Kobo that will work to test your ePub.

That is, filename.epub is an epub file and filename.kepub.epub is a kepub. Using filename.kepub will not work on your Kobo though it can be used in calibre which will automagically add the .epub when sending to your Kobo. Last edited by DNSB; 04-15-2023 at 12:49 PM.
