It turned out to be an interesting morning. One of the kiddies ran into a cyclist (the adults minding each group were often better at keeping an eye on their phone than on the kids), knocking her to the ground, splitting her knee open. We called an ambulance for her because not only was it a very deep cut but she couldn't put any weight on her leg, so it might be a bigger injury. She was taking to the hospital. Hopefully she's okay.

Spongebob called the police because according to him the lady wasn't allowed to cycle there (not true). So the police came, a neighbor showed their security camera footage to the police and Spongebob and the other adults were sternly told off because they weren't minding the kids and letting them play on the road (which is pedestrian only from noon until 7 or 8pm, but this was before noon). Spongebob also had to give all the details of the daycare he works for to both the police and the injured lady for insurance reasons.

And you know what. I don't think I'll miss it when I move.

This weekend I'm going to stay with my sister for 2 nights (we're going on a hike on Sunday morning) and I'm already looking forward to not having to sleep with my earplugs in, as I would normally do on Saturday and often on Sunday night.

Sure, the supermarket is not a 300 meters walk but 1 kilometer (still very walkable) and I'll have to plan running errands instead of just being able to pop by a store when I need something (though more and more I need to order online anyway).

But no more noise at night (not often at least), no more events every other weekend from spring until fall and no problems getting there on either your bike or by car will weigh up against the things I will miss (mostly our neighbors).

Me too. Every time I start thinking maybe I'd be ok without, I'll hear a news interview with some doctor or another and they always say they personally still wear a mask when in crowded indoor places.

One-way masking actually protected me in a situation where several people near me caught Covid and I didn't. Plus I would feel terrible if I unknowingly passed it along to an immune compromised person. I'm sure eventually I'll get to the point where I feel ready to ditch the mask but I'm not there yet. I've always been a cautious sort of person in general.

Mr. H got his 2nd one yesterday and he is one seriously grouchy and cranky bear today! And he wasn't Mr. Sunshine last night, either but at least I no longer have to worry about him.

I did it all backwards. My first Shingrix shot gave me every side-effect ever mentioned--and then some! Didn't notice a thing after the second one.

Yeah, Mr. H's nurse said that some people are like you--first one sucks, second is a breeze; some are the inverse, and some get it crappy both times, which seems to be Mr. H's sad tale. He's got a fever of 99.9F today!

Yeah, mine was a bit of a sore arm for the first one, but the second one had me pretty cruddy for nearly two days. But a small price.

FWIW: "Yeet" is also the action when you discover a bug crawling on you, and you panic and throw the thing off you, in any direction, but hard!

Oh, I've had plenty of those. Not to mention spiders, the odd baby tarantula (yes, really) and one scorpion, whose post-yeet location I never did find.
