Not absolutely certain but one author mentioned something about minutes read but was unclear as to whether that was ebooks or audiobooks. I thought it was audiobooks since reading speed would play greatly into the minutes needed for an ebook.

If you're interested in Kobo Plus, I don't understand the horror at switching WiFi on once in a while. I leave mine off all the time and I won't be using Kobo Plus. But, if I were otherwise interested in it, turning on WiFi for a few minutes every couple of weeks doesn't seem like it is asking too much. |

I don’t know. Haven’t tried it yet. I can say that it doesn’t work with Obok. When I was backing up some purchases last night, I noticed my Kobo Plus books all had green, open locks. Those are usually reserved for non DRM books or when books are open in the desktop app database still. As I suspected, the book can’t be stripped of DRM, which is a good thing, TBH. Kobo Plus can’t succeed if it encourages rampant piracy. Sure, that might encourage people to sign up, but publishers would pull out. Last edited by Cootey; 04-07-2023 at 09:07 PM. |

Kobo Plus works on my Kobo Mini running FW 4.19.14123, which was a nice surprise. |

I agree. I respect ppl’s right to live life their own way, but I don’t really get the hangup on WiFi that is so popular around here. Maybe it’s a legacy thing. I leave my WiFi on all the time, too. Things sync even while asleep. I’ve come to rely on the convenience since I move between my Clara HD, my Elipsa, and my iOS Kobo apps. With Kobo Plus it’s vital. If I borrow a book and a comic using a desktop browser, the book is available immediately on my Clara HD, and the comic is available immediately on my Elipsa and iPad, where I prefer to read comics and manga. I don’t even have to manually sync. It’s a nice convenience. Last edited by Cootey; 04-07-2023 at 09:20 PM. | |

It’s a forced sync every 30 days. Why are you so paranoid against it? I and millions of others have synced our kobos billions of times collectively and been fine. If you don’t sync regularly you can lose your collections, your annotations, etc if your database corrupts. There is zero reason not to sync your device once a month. Not syncing is like circumventing registration. |

I actually don’t care about it either way. It’s just that Jon is very vocal about the one issue possibly causing loss of data while just as determined to ignore the other issue which is more likely to result in loss of data.
