It depends on the series_index_auto_increment setting. I have mine set to 'const' which should always set it to 1.

Is there a way to make it so that when you download from a certain site (fiction.live) FFF will "Overwrite Always" if I have it set to "Update Epub if New Chapters" in the main config screen? Like a personal.ini override? I'm asking because the stories I follow on fiction.live tend to be updated in chunks that aren't always full chapters. At present I've been deleting the story and redownloading it with FFF since I've assumed it would just download the next chapter without noticing that whatever chapter I had a story downloaded to previously now has more content.
I hope that makes sense. |

There isn't any provision for setting the update mode by book or from config.
Deleting and redownloading is nearly the same as 'updating' with Overwrite Always. I assume you know that you can click the 'Show Download Options' box and change the update mode for an particular update/download job? |

I keep typoing 'collections' as 'collection'. Could there be any unexpected behaviour if I use include_in_collections:collection? (A temporary measure while I'm getting all these collections sorted out.
)Additionally: How do ignore case-sensitivity in replace_metadatas to avoid (collection|Collection|COLLECTION)? I've done it before but I can't remember. EDIT: (?i) (for insensitive) at the beginning of the string ignores casing. Last edited by ownedbycats; 04-06-2023 at 04:33 AM. |

New question:
Trying to get rid the watermarks on some Photobucket-hosted images on an AO3 story. The photobucket images have a cache-control of max-age=31536000, public so in theory loading from cache should work. (That's if AO3 is enabled for it -- I had trouble finding that.) I enabled browser cache for AO3. Didn't work. I then enabled use_browser_cache_only. FFF failed to find the pages in cache. I cleared cache and added ?view_full_work=true (copied from another fic, as this is oneshot) when reloading but still no dice. I'll just fix the images manually, but did I miss any steps that could've made this work? never mind see the edit This is something that's come up before but I think no changes were made. Thanks. EDIT: AO3 pages max-age=0, no-cache. Oh well, it was worth a try. Last edited by ownedbycats; 04-06-2023 at 04:50 AM. Reason: screwy bbcode tags |

Hi guys, I have a problem, with ficbook, when I tried to update my library, I noticed that all my book what were downloaded from ficbook, I have error
"HTTP Error in FFF '403 Client Error: Forbidden for url: https://ficbook.net/readfic/*****" How I can solve this problem, if I don't have any money for proxy or servers? I try to use "use_browser_cache_only:true" and "use_basic_cache:true" but it didn't work. |

Ficbook disabled the cache so that won't work. The flaresolverr proxy is free to run on your computer but I'm not sure how it works with ficbook.

Flaresolverr proxy worked with ficbook.net last time I tried it, late last month. See Proxy Feature for details.

@JimmXinu - Considering my issue from earlier and KJL...'s issue from today, would it make sense to add a list of sites known not to work to the Browser Cache page? Ficbook and Archive of Our Own are the ones I know of.

I wrote this up and added it.
Code:
## Websites known not to work If If there is a `no-cache` entry in the cache-control, caching is disabled for that website. This can be checked in the HTTP headers, either through the Inspect Element > Network tool in the browser in Firefox or Chromium-based browsers or by using a third-party tool such as [this one provided by DNSChecker](https://dnschecker.org/server-headers-check.php). Here are websites known to not work with the browser cache: - archiveofourown.org - ficbook.net (as of March 2023) Last edited by ownedbycats; 04-06-2023 at 05:47 PM. Reason: fixed typos |

For future reference: does include_metadata run before exclude? (assuming both are both _pre or _post)
