You must have been unlucky. No issues with my Libra 2 or about 10 other Kobo ereaders I bought. I've bought for other family members. The only poor Kobo I had was a second hand Kobo Touch (version C), bought cheap when old, which had a poor screen.

It's possible, who knows honestly! I know that I tried different versions of KOReader, and upgraded and downgraded Kobo's firmware to no avail. It doesn't matter now though, it is not mine anymore.

As of right now, it's true. Nobody knows if a jailbreak will ever be found for the current firmware.

Well, there was that one problematic firmware release, but I forget if the Libra 2 was out then or if it was when the OP had their Libra, or if it affected KOReader.

Unlike Kindle, you can go back a release on Kobo if a new FW has an annoying bug. Using Kindle since about 2013 and Kobo from about 2015.

Sure, but does your typical user know this? I would guess not and if they buy a new device and have problems (because of firmware), they will just call it a day and return the device.

I'm not that typical of a user, I even swapped the SD card in my Shine 3, so I try all possibilities before giving up. I just lost it with that Kobo, glad that I got rid of it.

To be honest, I don't know anymore. I know that I tried upgrading and downgrading the firmware, to no avail. I think that when I got it, the firmware version was around 4.30, but I may be wrong.
