But if the book is under copyright you need to 'scramble' it before you upload it here, there's plugin to do that ==>> ScrambleEbook

Note that if it is a copyright book, you will want to scramble it first. Helps keep the greenies (moderators) happy. BTW, the calibre plugin ( [GUI Plugin] ScrambleEbook: Getting help with copyrighted books ) works with epub/kepub and azw3.

Personally, I would remove the .mobi copy unless you have an old device that needs that format.

Edit, you know I should learned that always read to the end of a thread before replying is a great idea.

I don't see any images in the book when viewing it in an ereader. There are two unused images in the book, though, which are just the cover in two different sizes.

On what pages are you seeing these images? I don't see any <img> code anywhere.

The book needs a bit of fixing. Page numbers embedded in paragraphs, lots of missing spaces between words. There are split paragraphs and some of the paragraphs look unusually long, so probably combined paragraphs also. Part 1 title is missing... Annoying but can be fixed though.

I deleted the mobi version. There's just the azw now.
EDIT: That scrambler is now obsolete. I got it just in case though. Do I need to delete my post with the book in?

No the images don't display but am not sure why. The smaller image is the one that won't delete.
The book is an utter mess. But it's all just simple text and html/css to fix. This one is unimportant but I am using it to learn how to fix and configure books and generate TOC's etc. I did try 2 other unimportant books and they had the same problem, I was unable to delete the smaller image. TOC's not showing.

For what it's worth, this is a dual mobi file so it has both a azw3 and mobi ebook. The editor is not happy with this combo. I would suggest using the KindleUnpack plugin to extract an epub (well, pretty close to an epub) which you can then edit and reconvert back to an azw3/KF8 file.

Huh, that is weird.
Just as I was thinking "geez how hard is it to delete a file", when I deleted the smaller image, saved the file, closed the book. Reopened it and, damn, the image is back. Never seen that before!!

I guess your azw3 file is corrupt.

In Calibre library, run the Convert Books function. Convert it to epub v3 (preferably) which seems to fix the issue. You'll notice both images are deleted as they were not used anywhere, so if you want one to remain, right click on it and Set as cover.

For what it's worth, since I downloaded the file, I took a look at it. After my original reply, I opened it with calibre's editor and it is definitely is not happy with editing the dual format file. On yet another hand, it is poorly OCRed scan from a large print edition of the book.

Overall, since Amazon.ca has it available for $6.00, I would give them the money rather than waste the time required to clean up the dog's vomit version. If Amazon's version is no better, at least you can then get your money back and probably have a KQN issued.

Just my three cents worth.

You're dead right. It's not worth it. But I have no interest in the book. I have interest in learning how to deal with issues that occur. I've never heard of a dual format file. This thread has taught me so much already. Thanks for your input.

No, you would have to convert it back to a azw3/KF8 file.

How do I use the plugin to unpack? I have it but when I click on it it just says that it does not need customisation?
