I've read some of the Star Trek novels she wrote, they were pretty good. I haven't read any of her original fiction though.

Yes, I’d recommend her. I have all her adult non-Star Trek fiction, and particularly enjoy The Tale of the Five series. Her urban fantasy isn’t too bad either.
