How to see where the images are used on the preview pane?
I want to know where in the document the specific images are actually used and how many times.
Is there wysiswyg way of achieving this? for example, if I click on any image in the file browser, and somehow it points to where it is in the document, on the preview pane of Calibre Editor or something. any ideas? |

Yes, you can do that in the Editor.
Go to Tools►Reports Click on images Then double click on an image to jump to its location |

beautiful ![]() but is it possible to see them in one spot? after the search I am left with dozens of new tabs open in the main interface. |

I don't really know what/how you are hoping to see this.
Do you want all the images displayed on one screen? The answer is no. You can view the files down the left file pane of the editor screen, but viewing all the images all at once can't be done. Why would you want that, out of curiosity? |

FWIW: Sigil has a plugin that will generate a list of illustrations ==>> [Plugin] LOI-Generator - edit] plugin to generate a List of Illustrations

whenever I obtain a new ebook the first thing I do is subset the font, lossy compress the images and the only step left to take is to see if some images are really necessary or not before erasing them. when they are deleted, [image] indicator replaces the real image so it reminds me something was there. It is not easy to say what image is necessary and what is not just by seeing the image itself. You gotta see how the image is used and where it is put in the context, where the need for easier navigating through the images in the document arises. Quote:

AFAIK the only command line support offered by the calibre book editor is an option to open specific component files within the ebook file being edited when it's started. Hardly a deal breaker.
It's not a use calibre or use sigil decision, many people use both. BR |

The Report showed a thumbnail AND 'How many times used' (as well as size info)
![]() ![]() ![]() USE CARE, this is not the place for Novices to edit (depends on what else needs to be changed). Safest is to Abort (cancel) after peeking as rebuild puts the changes into the old spot in the library |
