Amazon and DRM changes

The Kindle Touch did charge and rebooted but it cannot be registered to the Amazon account. So that means that route is no go.

Guess I'll try the Android way.

Thanks - I wasn't familiar with Bluestacks at all.
It works now.
This possibility interested me in theory - with my Kindle 4 it is much more convenient

Also the date at least must be correct on the Kindle, on a KK3 on Wifi or DX(G) on Mobile/cell that can take an hour to a day to update after a flat battery /cell. You can't enter the date directly.

Amazon writes the "time on the display" must be correct to register, but it's the date not the time that matters.

I use an epub as definitive version for any edits.

Yes, it uses an Amazon tool (the Previewer, Create is needed to get a print replica made and converted with Previewer through calibre).

They don't work fine as AZW3, as the renderer is slightly different. Full features are only in the KFX renderer.

I cannot get the Kindle Touch registered. Looks like Android is the only way for now to get new KU eBooks that can have the DRM removed.

This is completely incorrect. KT and PW1 can definitely still be registered.

You may have gotten a KT that was previously modded and banned, have 2FA enabled on your account and did not register it properly, or you're not running on the latest KT firmware which will prevent you from registering the device.

It was registered to an account. Then registered but it's not allowing to be registered again.

2FA is off. Should I maybe try turning it on and see what happens this time?

Depends whether you value those features. And KFX has disadvantages AZW3 has not - like the FONT_RAMP not working with it.

Personally I preferred AZW3 when I used a Kindle. Font_ramp was vastly more important to me than enhanced typesetting, and I hate hyphenation.

Even if you don't have 2 factor authentication turned on, it is very likely that Amazon sent a code to your cell phone with instructions to put that code in instead of the password. I registered a K3 and a K4 recently, and had to do this for both. It's absolutely insane that Amazon says, on the kindle when you try to register it, that the email address or password is wrong, when it is not wrong. Amazon should send a message saying look for a message on your phone.

Also, if the message on your phone is old, like from an hour ago, it won't work. You have to put in your email address and password again on the kindle, then look for a new message on your phone right away.

When you say code instead of the password, do you mean when you log in? So do I have to log out, register the Kindle, get the code and then use it as my password for logging back in?

Or do you have the URL to go to to put in the code?

Localhost failing might possibly be a localization issue. I'll update the instructions.

You need to extract the book from Bluestacks first. Use the Media Manager app.

If you prefer KFX format, but you've bought books elsewhere or want to edit them. Then you'd need to convert into KFX. I assume that can be done with KFX Output plugin. Not something I'm at all interested in though so I don't know for sure.
