You are assuming that I even have a need to take books out of the Amazon ecosystem. Obviously I will keep removing the DRM from my purchases, so I can convert them to the, *drumroll*, evil KFX format so I can side load them to my Oasis to read them.

I could complain, on and on, that Amazon does not give me a choice to read in any other format and still have all features of my Kindle enabled. Or I could just get over it and thank jhowell for his great work on the KFX input/output plugin.

Wait, don't the vast majority of books now come in KFX format?

I can't install Kindle for Android in Bluestack.
And from my Boox Leaf I get a backup.ab with a length of 47 bytes (without serial number)

They work fine as AZW3, same source.
The KFX conversion AFAIK uses an Amazon tool?

I use an epub as definitive version for any edits.

How long would it take to charge a Kindle that's been sitting around for some time and shows a low battery on the screen? I've managed to get a hold of a Kindle Touch.

It may not be 5555. Where you enabled the adb connection in the Bluestacks settings, there should be the port number. I don't remember what it was in my case, but it wasn't 5555.

Just plug it in and charge it. And, if it has a visible charge light (like the Oasis), the red light will turn to green when it's fully charged. (Now, whether or not it holds a charge is another issue.)

While you're waiting, you can do these things. (I do them as needed.):

Clean the house.
Do the dishes.
Wash the car.
Do the laundry.
Cook dinner for your wife.
Go grocery shopping.
Take your child to his/her futbol class.
Clean the dog's living area.

At one point, I got a Kindle Keyboard that never got beyond the low battery screen, even though it showed a charging light. It couldn’t be revived. Which meant, of course, that I couldn’t register it.

Thanks - it was localhost; when using 127.0.0.1:5555 it worked.
But after downloading a book, i wasnt able to find it on my Windows 11 Pc.

I used the Bluestacks manager to export the books to Windows.

Some models of Kindle won't work at all even on external power when the battery cell is worn out. Certainly I've seen it on two K3 keyboard models, though easy to fit a new cell in that model.
