Bummer! I'm sorry about that. I was hoping that maybe they'd work more than once, like some in the past have done. I guess someone must've used the second one.

The five- and six-figure codes that are a jumble of letters and numbers have always been single-use only. (There are reports that some may recycle, but it’s a case of months at a minimum.) The multi-use coupons have been more “legible”. Alas, as of now it seems as if Kobo has killed all their multi-use offspring.

It would be nice if people posted that they’d used a coupon, so subsequent readers wouldn’t bother to go through the motions. But lurkers abound and good on them if they snag a working coupon and some coupons are just inherently duds.

OFF TOPIC: I also received 5,000 points yesterday just for being a VIP. I didn't receive any email or other notification about it -- I logged on today and there it was. The points history shows it as "KSP Reward for VIP Customers - Get 5000 KSP."

Anyone else get this strange, but happily accepted, bonus?

Update! Got my birthday code for 20% off right on my birthday

So, I tried it this time, using @issybird's process, and it worked. I ordered the gift card Friday morning (to another email address), and the bonus card came Sunday evening to my normal account email. So then I credited the bonus card to my account, and then the regular gift card, and everything went as it should, and the credits are both in my account.

So, like @issybird, I have no idea if this specific process helped, or if that other time I just had a customer service person who didn't know what was what, or ??? But I'm pleased it worked, and will continue to use this approach. Until it doesn't work again - not that I'm cynical, of course ...

If it makes you feel any better, in the misery loves company line, not only did I not get the bonus points on a $10 Kindle purchase in Amazon’s current Beta program, I got no points at all. CS told me it couldn’t be fixed. Period. I suppose that saved me time. That was the end of my participation in the program.

I feel your pain, and will award Kobo the win - third time was the charm, I got the 5X bonus ponits at last with about 40 hours left in the 2-week window

Kobo must hate me. I've got a couple of accounts and they all get promo emails from Kobo. All are set with my correct birthdate and not one birthday code email today.

I don't know if things have changed in 2023, but in the past the I've been able to use the one use lower codes (usually the 20% and 25%) that get emailed to my account, even after expiry.

The 50% ones seemed to only work once on my account, though. I've really cut down on purchases so haven't been able to test thoroughly, I save the 50% codes for future use.

If you don't delete the emails and keep a list of what you've used, try an old bday code - mine were usually the 20% off ones.
