Are there any anti-blue light screen protections for PW3?
Basically this. For me the major downside of my Kindle are the LEDs, too bright and too white.
I saw a tutorial by someone who got opened their Kobo and sticked Klapton tape on top of the LEDs. I did the same to my PW3 but it has no effect, since the light diffuses through the back of the display, sticking colored tape on top of the LEDs does nothing. If a protective screen film that "fixes" this, where can I get it? |

If you don't need vision correction to read, you can get glasses to block blue light. Probably prescription glasses are also possible.
It's not clear to me that a screen protector would be the way to go, even if one existed, because it would be there permanently even when you don't need the front light. (personally I do not find it necessary to mitigate blue light exposure from screens) Last edited by tomsem; 02-16-2023 at 06:25 PM. |

Prescription sunglasses if needed and if not needed, just ordinary sunglasses.

Turn them off and use an orangy reading lamp. Also they do turn as dim as you like. I have a PW3.
An orange tinted sheet of plastic can be used. They sold them since 1950s for B&W TVs and for shop windows to stop fading. You can get cheap hinged clip-on fiiters for regular glasses. |

I am a typical old guy who has had cataract surgery and needs to use reading glasses. I usually read for an hour or so every night, and while I have not found that my Kindle Paperwhite ever created a problem, I decided to play it safe and use 'blue-blocker' readers that have a faint amber/yellow tint. Found them on line - something like three pair for $15 which is less that readers at the local pharmacy. One pair broke about two weeks after I got them, but the others are still good after more than a year.

My motivation for getting my Clara HD was that I really wanted to reduce the blue light glare when reading at night compared to my PW1. For a while, though, I was considering buying some orange gel filters online and cutting them to fit in the screen recess as an overlay to use at night. I’ve not tried it, so no guarantees that it’s a good idea, but that might work for you.
Not a suggestion, just first item that I found to link to as an example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V37D4DN |
