No doubt, yet it is people like me, who never steel their content, that get hit the hardest.

Yes, I am technically capable of taking advantage of various loopholes etc and have even seen them in the past, I'm just not a thief.

I'll leave the thieving to Amazon itself (given how they treated me on my last purchase, they are well practiced at it).

Does the "ecosystem" include the kindle for android? I may have missed it but can the kindle app read the new DRM?

My big position is not just epub conversion but want to be able to read an ebook with the reader of choice; or checking out other readers from time to time.

I have already encounter problems with DRM with the original Nook; the Nook had a setting for DRM on the device which I thought applied to all readers. But after not being able to use other reader apps, I found that Adobe's version of "device" is any software reader app & nothing to do with the hardware device setting.

The DRM hasn't changed; the methods of accessing the older files with breakable DRM has.

I don't see any reason they would lock out Kindle for Android, but if someone reports otherwise I'll add it to the OP.

Checked it out with the latest Kindle Android app on my Lenovo tablet and no new issues noticed.

I've seen If you purchased this book without a cover you should be aware that this book is stolen property. in some eBooks.

And then we also get the end of the printed page section breaks when we don't need them.

This is especially hilarious when the publisher doesn't even bother to embed a cover. I've been tempted to email them pretending to be genuinely confused.

I mean, if I read story A, start story B and not like it so I skip it, and read story C does that mean author B doesn't get their penny? Or are all the authors somehow affected? I know it's not my responsibility, but I do wonder.

I would say that the only metric the publisher gets is the amount of pages read, not which ones. In an anthology it would be up to the publisher to decide how to split the pot.

I do seriously wish they'd do one thing like pbooks: Put a synopsis at the front. Like what's on the back of pbooks or on the front flaps. You can insert a jacket with the synopsis with Calibre. That's what I did when I used Kindles. On a Kobo you can include the synopsis in the book details, so no jacket needed.
