calibre is pronounced as cal-i-ber not ca-li-bre. If you’re wondering, calibre is the British/commonwealth spelling for caliber. Being Indian, that’s the natural spelling for me.

Since it is supposed to be an english word, when I see calibre I don't want to pronounce it correctly, so seeing caliber makes more sense to me. The spelling is not as intuitive as the difference of colour and color. ESL is hard.

I am more simple than that. If I don't know their preference, I go by how someone looks like. If it is an obvious male that is wearing female clothes, it is still a he to me, unless they say they are transgender.

Google is fairly good at correcting these mistakes. (Unfortunately, Google "helping" and getting completely unrelated stuff to what I want is one of my banes...)

I hate autocorrect. I have an Android (Google) phone. I created a voice-to-text SMS message to my wife once ... "Did you feed the cat?"

Yes, online it is different. It also matters what your first language is. In German the gender of a generic human (the word) is male, a human kid is neutral, animal is neutral, but a dog is male, a cat or cow is female, and a horse or pig is neutral. This continues to non living things: a house is neutral, a table is male, a couch is female. Other languages that have different gender words can be different than German.

In Estonian all pronouns are neutral, non-gendered. On one hand it makes it easy to speak about someone in third person, on the other hand it can be difficult to understand whom the speaker meant.

Difficult to translate as well, sometimes. I recall a mystery where an important plot point was a kid saying "She did it". It was clear the kid meant a woman. Impossible to convey that meaning in Estonian, where he/she is genderless.

As far as I have seen, text book companies are about the only companies using the Adobe hardened DRM. I've seen 3 maybe 4 consumer fiction books that have used the hardened DRM.

Please note that in much of the English speaking world, calibre is the correct spelling. The US is the only country, AFAIAA, where caliber is the preferred spelling. Well, other than Canada where we tend to use both UK and US English variants without much rhyme or reason. As in one recent sentence where the colour guard was honoring the king.
