Really? So 24 juillet 2023, 24 июля 2023 г., Hōngongoi 24, 2023, or 24. heinäkuuta 2023 are equally understandable to you? Not everybody in this world speaks or even understands English well enough to understand American dates.

If you are going to have a PDF to fill out, make it so that the PDF can be filled out on a computer (without having to purchase something from Adobe, or use some non-standard software).

Honestly, unless somebody really screws the pooch, 99% of fillable PDFs can be readily and easily filled using Adobe Reader, which is free-free-free. They can also be filled by Mac's Preview app, but it's trickier to do. You can fill them using SAFARI, again, on the Mac side, but you have to print to pdf, you can't just "save." Dunno why it's that way, but I cannot tell you how many customers I have had, that were tricked by Safari into thinking that they'd filled out the PDF, and saved it, only to send it to us, blank as hell. We now have HUGE warnings, on our fillable and saveable PDF forms that say "if you're going to use a browser to complete the forms, here's how you do it."

So...it's not always the form, to be honest. Some folks are just predisposed to killing it off. LOL. Trust Auntie Hitch about this! I have seen incredible progress amongst regular, ordinary people in how to screw up things that should be unscrewable.

Well that is what I was ranting about: I am not getting fillable PDFs as often as I'd like.

Oh, sorry, love; thought you meant that the fillable forms you wree receiving were not "fillable" for some reason or another--software incompatibility, etc.

I finally broke down and paid a lovely, competent Fiverr fellow (a perfectly normal wage, not "Fiverr pay") to make some for me. He was far superior at it than I, and I got exactly what I wanted; my customers love them (platform-independent, right?) and all's well that ends well and all that rot.

The last PDF fillable form that I received would not fill with any program that I tried on my computer other than the full Adobe Acrobat Pro which I'm gong to assume means that it would also work with Acrobat Standard. When I complained, the ^&*#$@ at the other end of the line seemed to think that this was normal since the twit seemed to have no idea that Acrobat Reader was not the same as Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro. When I walked him through looking at the document security where under Filling of form fields was a Not Allowed as were all the other entries in the Document Restrictions Summary, I got a "I'll have to take that up with my supervisor".

According to my ISP, my shopping email address only gets spam. It’s been like that for years. Adding the senders to an address book didn’t fix it and I was never in the mood to try to get the ISP to address the issue. I decided it was probably more efficient in the long run to visit my spam folder every day and pick out the legit ones.

I haven't received any Kobo emails for a long time in spite of being signed up for them. Not in my inbox, not in my spam/junk folder. No idea where they go.....

The spam emails I get seem to change topics every month or so. For a while it was power tools. Today it's solar power. Of course there are the occasional male enhancement product adds even though I'm not male....

Memo to self: maybe backup Firefox profiles etc more often - every 28 days mayn't be good enough.

For the first time in many years Firefox spat the dummy big time this morning, threw its toys out of the pram too. Last backup of its data was 2023-01-22, which is not too bad - but I can see I lost a few bookmarks.

You might be able to recover them.

I use Waterfox as my primary browser which is a fork from Firefox. One of the things both browsers do is make regular backup of your bookmarks (mine looks as though its done weekly).

You can check if you have a recent one by opening the Bookmark Manager, clicking on Import and Backup, then Restore and selecting a file (if available)as per the image.

You can also create a export bookmarks as HTML as a secondary backup.

Hope this helps.

Argh. They're probably going to break all the extensions again...

@MickiTee -

I wasn't too bothered about bookmarks, mine are pretty static and I had them covered elsewhere, it was the potential loss of customisations and extensions that really bothered me.

After I restoring %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox from my backup drive the only thing I lost (apart from the recently added bookmarks) were my 'permanently' pinned tabs, I have managed to get them back, but I'm not sure how or why.
