The book has been deleted. please help me!

The book I added to the calibre library was spontaneously deleted. I made a lot of corrections in the book. Is it possible for me to return the book?

Check your system's recycle bin. If it's there, don't restore! You need to copy it out to another folder and then re-add it.

. . .
Highly improbable.

At some stage you probably turned off the warning message for Remove Books, and then at a later time you hit the Del key.

Suggested solutions:
  • a) change the keyboard shortcut e.g. from Del to Shift+Del;
  • b) restore the warning message (Preferences->Behaviour) and leave it be;
  • c) or be like me, a) and b)

There is a setting on the Fetch News form, that sets the Auto Delete after ## days.

I read the book at night and then turned off the computer. When I turned on the computer in the morning it was not there. I did not delete it myself. I'm sure of that.

I am using macos as the operating system. These are the files in the trash. Some are copies of the book I deleted. I don't know which of these it is. Can you rewrite what I should do next?

Isn't this setting news related to automatic deletion? My book was deleted.

Did you save the book and close the editor before turning the computer off - MacOS will delete files if they are left open for an extended period, which incudes the time the Mac is powered down.

Restore the one with the most recent remove date.

That there are 33 instances of what appears to be the same book in the Trash Can suggests 'something' has been 'deleting' them every time you edited the epub.

Master, after realizing that the book had been deleted spontaneously, I added each copy on my computer to calibre and checked for the deleted book. And then when I realized that they were not self-deleting books, I deleted them myself. One of them may be a self-deleting book. But I don't know which one it is. I just started using caliber. I don't quite know how to use it. Thank you for your interest.
