Just out of curiosity, everyone here keeps talking about K4PC 1.17, but I've been using K4PC 1.24 since I switched to Windows 10, and it's worked fine with the DeDrm / NoDrm plugin all this time. Of course, it's also been affected by the Jan 3 change, but I don't think quite as bad as the 1.17 version for KU books.

For new books in 2023, you still have the same problem, but my understanding is that with 1.17 you can no longer convert KU books no matter when published. With 1.24 I can still convert KU books that were published before 2023. Or can you still do that with 1.17 and I just didn't understand that from the first post?

What's preventing you to use the YT app on your phone and simply link it to the YT app on your TV?

You don't have to do anything to 1.17 to keep it from downloading KFX format. You only need to make sure it doesn't update which you need to do for any earlier version. I suppose if you actually want KFX format that you can decrypt, 1.24 is better. Provided the book was published before 3 Jan 2023.

IMNSHO, KFX is not a superior format for the end user. In my eyes, it's major sin is that it is not editable. In terms of formatting, KFX offers nothing that ePub had not offered for years before Amazon created KFX.

In my opinion KFX is the best format to have on a Kindle since that enables the Enhanced Typesetting features of the reading software. And KF8 (azw3) is the best format to take off of a Kindle since that format most closely matches what the publisher originally provided to Amazon.
