Flipping to the end will count as only one page read and the author will be only paid for that. Amazon fixed that a long time ago. Read KU books on a Kindle app or device if you want the author to be paid.

1) Pointless to remove KU DRM, because you have to read on the Kindle it was supplied on and read all the pages or the author isn't paid completely.

2) Flipping to end doesn't work.

That's me. I pay for very few of my books, but use my library CONSTANTLY, pick up freebies FREQUENTLY, sometimes from Kobo/Amazon, other times direct from publishers or authors, and have no issue with visiting sites offering public domain books. I'm having a re-read of Swiss Family Robinson currently, courtesy of Gutenberg.org, where I also found out that Jules Verne apparently wrote a fan-fic sequel, which I'll have to investigate!

Yep. Some years ago I bought a book by Johanna Lindsey. Dedrmed the book and save It. 2 years after when I wanted Open that book, It was different! Another Author, etc. Called AMAZON and they told me It was the publisher's Problem. Ive tried to communicate with the publisher and until now there is no answer.
So I deleted the "New" book and load my copy

Which now begs the question about Goodreads -which I used to love so much and very frequently and freely participated on until Amazon purchased it a few years ago.

Will Amazon sooner or later use Goodreads to showcase only its books? Will it soon become a membership space only -accessible for a fee?

I think you can call it anything you want. It is trying to bully others into adopting your nomenclature that is frowned upon.
