Joffe Books appear to have gotten the e-rights to V.C. Clinton-Baddely's five Dr Davie books, first published in the 1960s - 1970s. (Per SYKM, the author's full name is Victor Vaughan Reynolds Geraint Clinton-Baddeley. Whew!) I remember reading these in paperback a few decades ago, but don't remember much other than a general pleasant memory of the series. Right now, an omnibus of the first four books is going for $0.99/£0.99 in the US/UK, and the fifth book is also $0.99/£0.99 individually.

I'll go with the latter - it was pretty much 'this happened, then that happened' over and over, and the characters were not interesting. Only my love of AC's And Then There Were None kept me reading in hope. The twist at the end, though, is almost worth the plod; didn't see that coming at all.

Open Road books and omnibuses go on sale pretty often in the US, often enough that I rarely post. Having missed the $2 deals on this and the other one mentioned, and being extremely cheap, I looked for them at my local library.

Overdrive has both books mentioned here, plus three more by Seishi Yokomizo.

If your local library doesn't carry them, look for the "Recommend titles not owned by the library" link. I've been pleasantly surprised several times that this actually works!
