The tool populates the auto-add folder very quickly (in seconds). What took 2 minutes for the 200 was the Calibre auto-add book process. If I were you, I wouldn't overload Calibre with 2000 at once unless you have the PC power to support it, including an SSD drive for your Library. You could turn auto-add OFF for .ris files, run the tool, then cut-and-paste the 2000 into a holding folder. Then, move a chunk of them at a time back into the auto-add folder after turning the auto-add for .ris back ON. Once the auto-add folder is empty, repeat.

Added: Zotero's exported RIS file has no T1 Tag like 'normal' RIS files downloaded from most DOI academic sites, only a TI Tag. So, the Title in Calibre per the Extract RIS Citations plugin configuration becomes the Auto-Add file name. So, Beta3 of the new JS tool automatically creates a T1 if there is only a TI, and vice-versa. If a .ris has both, then it does nothing.

Be sure to compress your Library after adding a lot of books using Library Maintenance.

See the JS thread for a new beta version of JS.zip.

Thanks for the new beta. So far so good. RIS file with 2000 records exploded in 1-2 seconds. I then followed your advice and added the resulting files in batches of 300, each batch being added in Calibre in about 2-3 minutes.

You forgot to download the new beta, #3, in JS. You may have to purge all books then re-run all of it again.

Version 1.0.7 Enhancement for Zotero-Created RIS Files

Version 1.0.7 - 22 Jan 2023 RIS Tags "Title" - TI & T1: Same as for new JS GUI Tool for RIS File Splitting/Exploding. Also, improved handling of multiple ISSN values in a single SN Tag. Only the first sorted value is used to create a new ISSN Identifier in Calibre. However, the entire .ris file, including all of its original RIS Tags and their values, still exists as the .ris format for the newly added 'book'.

Version 1.0.8 Accommodate Job Spy GUI Tool for RIS

Version 1.0.8 - 24 Jan 2023 Changes to accommodate the Job Spy GUI Tool utility "RIS Tags: Create Individual Custom Columns".

The new "utility" GUI Tool in JS is being released in Beta Test only for now. See the Job Spy thread if you are interested in Beta Testing the new GUI Tool.

If you use this plugin, you should probably use the two (2) JS Tools that are specific to RIS Files.

Version 1.0.9

Version 1.0.9 - 26 Jan 2023 New 'Information' (warning) Dialog to notify user that they must use the Job Spy GUI Tool "RIS Citation File: Split Each RIS Tag Set into a Single RIS File" for the newly added .ris book, since the book contained multiple sets of RIS Tags, and each should be its own book.

Version 1.0.10 Customization for DOIs, Tag "DO", Enhanced

Version 1.0.10 - 30 Jan 2023 Customization for DOIs, Tag "DO", enhanced to allow both a new Identifier of type "doi" and the RIS custom column for DOIs, #ris_doi, to be created or updated simultaneously. This facilitates matching DOIs for Zotero .pdf files imported by the Zotero Metadata Importer plugin with the DOIs for .ris files imported by this ERC plugin.

Companion Plugin: Job Spy has a utility GUI Tool for RIS files, especially for those originating from Zotero. If you use Zotero, Job Spy is a must-have plugin.

See:https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=23

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Added:

Version 1.0.11 - 30 Jan 2023 A small percentage of .ris files have no AU (authors) tag, only A1 (primary authors) tags, causing the Calibre Author column to be "unknown". AU created for each A1 if the .ris file has zero AU tags.

Version 1.0.14 Mappings of A1-A4 to #ris_... Custom Columns

Version 1.0.14 - 26 Feb 2023 Change defaulted mappings of A1-A4 to #ris_primary_authors etc. Previously, they always went to Authors. Now, only RIS Tag 'AU', Authors, defaults to Calibre standard Authors.
