Blank pages in output file

I'm converting an EPUB file into a PDF file and see a blank page after every image.

The epub and the converted pdf files can be found in this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...usp=share_link

I think it's because how I set up the conversion profile (please see the attached pictures).

I have 2 questions:
- Any explanation on why I got those blank pages and how I can adjust my settings in Calibre to remove them? (other than deleting the blank pages in the PDF file manually).
- The settings I used work well for me with text-heavy EPUB file, and I have changed these settings in the Preferences. But every now and then I ran into some conversion issue such as this one. When this is the case I want to revert back to the default setting. However, it is every tedious if I click "Restore Defaults" on all settings and then have to apply these settings again for a new book. Is there a way I can back up these settings, restore defaults, and then import the backup settings? Or is there a way to set up multiple export profile in Calibre?

I have that same issue happen, occasionally, with blank pages on some EPUB to PDF conversions, and I found that sometimes the only change needed in the settings was in Look and Feel -> Layout tab -> Remove spacing between paragraphs, whereas in other cases some CSS modifications were needed in Calibre Editor.

Using my current settings, including the one I mentioned, I got no blank pages with that epub, in the mentioned locations. I think it should be better to scramble it before posting on MR.

Btw, what do you mean by "scrambling it" before posting on MR? (Sorry English is my 2nd language). Thank you!

Checking "Remove spacing between paragraphs" interfered quite a bit with the paragraph layout so I'd probably want to leave this unchecked.

I meant using this plugin: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=267998, but as the file is large and hosted externally, I guess that's ok... I see that the setting modification I suggested didn't help, as there's again a blank page after the map in page 12, just before the introduction.

I too wish there was an option to save the conversion settings... One other thing I'd try is setting a custom paper size in output, here's what I used, and a sample is attached:
