I always have this mental image of an indoor crafts expo crossed with a souk whenever anyone in the Liaden Universe goes into a Trade Hall. They travel around the universe on incomprehensible starships, yet business is conducted basically in a farmer's market with meet-and-greet parties on the side. The contrast is so imaginative and intriguing to me every time I read one of those scenes. It makes me want to be a Trader when I grow up, lol.

It is quite a contrast, isn't it? Have you read Nathan Lowell's Solar Clipper series? Starting with Quarter Share? There the trading is even more front and centre. It's not, perhaps, as deeply nuanced as the Liaden Universe, but they're delightful stories none-the-less.

IIRC, I read the first four of the series, and enjoyed them. I see that there are two additional books in the series, so I'll have to do a re-read of the series and get caught up. I often wait and let a couple of books pile up in a series before I go back to it.

There are others, not in the actual series, but tangential (and likely coming together in the near term, from hints by the author.)

The Smuggler's Tales, starting with Milk Run
The Seeker's Tales, starting with In Ashes Born

Finally, there's a "standalone" prequel to those two series (which are set mostly in Toe-Hold Space), Dark Knight Station: Origins, which chronicles the establishment of one of the primary toe-hold stations.

"Since it's here, I might as well have it," he said, taking the packet up with a frown. "I'll expect to see the master trader himself, the next time I write."

"I will tell him you said so, sir," Padi said truthfully.

I won't post a lengthy review, complete with spoilers, but I will say that Salvage Right is a definite winner. Action takes place almost exclusively at Tinsori Light, with Tocohl, Tolly Jones, Haz, Jen Sin yos’Phelium, Seignur Veeoni, Theo, Joyita and Bechimo as the principal characters. There are brief glimpses of what's happening back on Surebleak, but nothing major.
