My Nova 3 Color which was already on FW version 3.1 is currently updating now... Hadn't connected it to the internet in a while.

That's how I get grab the latest Neoreader application and put it onto my old Nova.

@winstonma I just read your script and tried it. However, I don't seem to be able to get to the android 9 firmware 3.1 of the NotePro. I've printed the results from urlParam and content, but I don't seem to be able to define a submodel. Any ideas?

I can only use the laucher that come with the system. I never update the laucher and I believe it is not possible.

You can install any launcher that you like. I use a custom one.
The default Onyx one is com.onyx.StartupActivity inside of kcb.apk

Yep you can install any launcher to replace the default one but I still have difficulty placing the updated kcb-release.apk onto my device

Are you going between versions or models?
By updated do you mean modded?

Oh by update I mean copying the apk onto the system, go back to Onyx Boox file manager and click to install. That's what I did for the KReader, Floating Button and Dictionary...

Are you talking about manually installing recent apps on older model Onyx that weren't expected to get them?
Most people install updates, not individual stock apps.

I collected the latest stock apk from the latest firmware Onyx released and then install the updated stock app onto my device which they no longer support. But AFAIK the Onyx launcher can't be updated.

And I was asked to include the Onyx Launcher which can't be updated(Link). Therefore I explain why Onyx Launcher is not included (because it is not upgradable) but other apps (e.g. Floating Button, Dictionary, Reader) can be upgraded.

Be careful with these manipulations though.

Chances are new release is incompatible with your firmware and can start crashing.
You also cannot downgrade system apps s you will be stuck with only choice of factory reset.

If you are just installing apk. you can always downgrade by uninstalling updates.

I updated my NeoReader. Floating Button and Dictionary without problem. You are right. there are chances that some NeoReader feature only works with the new firmware but I would just ignore the new NeoReader feature inside the app. Based on my experience the NeoReader would have some sort of bug fixes.
