I hold my reader in my left hand most of the time, I'd like the page turn button that's in the bottom left corner moved to bottom center. That way I could hold it with both hands and use either thumb to press the page turn button.

Plug-ins to add more formats would be great. The lengths I have to go to in order to convert secure eReader are somewhat ridiculous. I only do it when I can use Micropay rebates to get the book for free from Fictionwise.

Also, a search feature would be nice so those of us who read on more than one device can more easily move back and forth between them.

In a perfect world, Sony would put it into an EBW1150 case. It already has giant page turn buttons, touch screen, easily reverses upside down for comfy reading with either hand, and best of all, a nice chunky handgrip. I don't think there is any way or reason to improve on that design.

I agree! I have the 700 and love the fact that it's a touch screen but sometimes prefer to use a button instead of leaving a thumbprint behind. I like the fact that I could switch between that last two books I was reading with the EBW1150, too. I also like the thicker grip, it makes holding the reader much more comfortable, although a little less portable (especially if you don't carry a purse, backpack, etc.). I also REALLY miss the dictionary look-up of the 1150 (I know I've said this before in other threads, but have I mentioned I REALLY miss the dictionary look-up )!!

Interesting question...I really can't think of anything I'd want to change....except:

1) Dictionary--I know it's just as easy to go to dictionary.com and look up a word, but a couple times while reading my current book, it's occured to me how nice that would be.

2) The page turning buttons are fine where they are..I just wish there were a bit bigger.

3) more formats easily accepted. I tend to consistently see 3 of the same formats on alot of websites (mobipocket, Microsoft reader, and ereader). Even if Sony could pick up one of those, it would be great.

Definitely the time displayed in the bottom right. That is my number one complaint. I also know that there is a way to change the software to do this, but, in looking at it, Iʻm not willing to mess with it. Like PP said, I want Sony to GIVE it to me!

Close behind, nipping at its toes, I want a built in dictionary. I would love to be able to choose a word and look it up quickly.

I have said before Iʻd like page turn buttons on the top, somehow, but, the more I get used to using the reader the way it is, the less important this one is to me. Iʻm not sure how/where theyʻd fit anyway.

Any other changes are super nitpicky (like these arenʻt!), and would change the reader in such a way that I wouldnʻt want it anyway. So, for now, Iʻll stop with these.

I would like to have 2 features:
  • supporting Mobipocket format (at least the non-DRM version)
  • having an "ultra-mobile" version of the reader, meaning same display size but with the buttons at the sides to have the minimum overall size

Folks, there IS a good dictionary for the 505. Nick Rapallo made it. It's hyperlinked for easy searching. It's not the OED, but this dictionary does what "I" need a dictionary to do, quickly and easily. Not quite as fast as a paper dictionary, but a lot lighter...

I've only had my reader for a week but I have to say I think I have fallen in love with it. I don't think I would change a thing. I love the fact I can turn pages with either my left hand (bottom right buttons) or right hand, and both of these buttons fall within comfortable reach where I hold the book. I really like the numbers down the side and have not yet accidentally pressed a single button.

I would, however, change two things. The eBook Library software seems pretty awful to me. It is slow and the automatic synch is doing crazy things for me and duplicating every book. I haven't yet figured out how to make this do what I want.

The second thing I would change is the availability of books to countries outside USA and Canada. I'm curious as to whether all of the books in the Sony book store are in LRF format (as I've only managed to download the free ones). I could only buy the book I wanted in Adobe Digital Editions from another site and small size is too small and the medium and large don't flow correctly. These are minor niggles, I am still enjoying reading the book.

I did notice today that the reader only just failed to fit in my pocket, so maybe a little less width as suggested would be good. Either that, or a jacket with bigger pockets.

If I could get any book I wanted in LRF format and the software for loading it to the reader was as easy to use as iTunes, I would be a happy bunny.

Turn off the sync. Otherwise you will hate your life. Just drop and drag the files you want on your reader over.

How did you know I was so full of self loathing? I had to solve this problem by removing all the books in my library as soon as I copied them. Please tell me how to turn off the sync, so I can get back to enjoying the fullness of life!

I haven't had any problems with the syncing. Is the software set to automatically sync by default?? I always just drag and drop to my reader. I also tried to find where these syncing settings were and I couldn't find them.

The synch settings are visible when you have connected your device and it appears in eBook Library software. Expand the node for your reader or the SD Card and you will see a Sync option that lets you pick which items will sync to that place.

I think there must be something when you first download the software. Mine never synced.

You have to select the Sync option and then check the categories, ie, books, pictures, music, etc. that you want to sync. If you haven't actively checked anything, then the sync option is not turned on, thank goodness! When I checked it to sync my books, at the time I had created over 100 bookmarks on my reader, it tripled my bookmarks and made it nearly impossible to open a book. I had to delete everything (over 250 books) and start over. After this happened 2 times (okay, I'm a little hard-headed ), I finally wised up, turned of the sync, and started creating the bookmarks using the library software on my laptopn and then downloaded the books to my reader -> One-Way!
