I had turned on heuristic processing and increase the epub output volume from 260k to 10000k, but I still failed to fetch the magzine.

Yes, you have exactly the same problem I wrote about, with the 781kB sub-tree not being splitable. Error in calibre.ebooks.oeb.transforms.split
