I went to a live broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera shown in a movie theater yesterday. The opera was stellar. I'm now recovering, and catching up work from having skived off yesterday afternoon to go see the show.

I'm trying to get used to my new glasses. The astigmatism in my left eye is going, but in my right eye it's gotten slightly worse. On the other hand my left eye needed a stronger lens but my right eye needed one that was a bit less strong.

So lots of changes. I've been wearing them for five hours now, and I've got a slight headache and teary eyes. The biggest problem is that the glasses a sliding down a lot, I didn't notice that when I first put them on. So I'll have to go back tomorrow to get the frame adjusted. Hopefully it isn't too busy (last weekend before Christmas).

Not looking forward to the next three weeks, and especially this week.

It's the busiest time of the year, so I'm working full time until the Christmas school vacation is over. This week there are three big shipments coming in, which means I'll have to downstairs early from tomorrow if I want to have any chance of dealing with them all by the end of the week.

This week will be the worst, because it's not only the week leading up to Christmas, but the school vacations haven't started yet, so not a lot of people have time off work while they still have to prepare for Christmas. So I expect more cranky customers than usual, and the closer we get to Christmas the worst it will get.

Next week will probably be the most relaxed week; people of off from work/school, they have time. Most suppliers are closed, so no shipments. However, it also means lot of bored/fed up kids in the store, with parents that are not paying attention to them.

The week after New Year is the last week of the school vacation, then we're getting the customers that want to finish their chore list before the end of the vacation. So we'll get customers who need some special order items RIGHT NOW and are upset that we don't stock dark blue or peach wall socket/switches/whatever. Also businesses have time time and budget to do maintenance again, so we'll sell a lot of fluorescent tubes, light bulbs and cable until mid January.
