Although nothing that I could find goes wrong I didn't find anything that was noticeably better either. I think you'll be safe either way.

Huh, so it has. I saw people talking about "Kobo doesn't usually pull firmware", and assumed that people wanted something rolled back, but that it hadn't been, because, uh, Kobo doesn't usually pull firmware.

I guess I will join the chorus of people wondering, then.

A question: I have just now found a book on Kobo that I actually really want to buy that is in nglish and Hindi. The preview shows lots of devanagari text. I'd love to buy it and try out the new Hindi font feature,in 35.20400, but if I turn wifi on to download it, will lose the very update that would let me read it?

I was just coming here to ask whether anyone elses' Kobos got stuck in an endless 'checking for updates' when trying to sync.

Not sure if it was the firmware itself glitching, or whether Kobo just didn't know how to handle the 'latest' version being a lower version than installed. I am downgrading now so hopefully that should help.

Sideloading an option? If you're worried about duplicates, just delete it when the firmware's updated again so you can sync.

I received the 4.35.20400 update OTA, and it has not reverted.

eta: And it hasn't gotten stuck when syncing.

The pull from distribution means that it is not be available as an OTA update but if you have already updated, it will not automagically roll back to 4.34.20097.

To go back, you have to download the previous firmware and manually install it. That;s not something most Kobo owners can do as you need to know the URL for the 4.34 firmware.

As an owner of a Sage and the disastrous PowerCover:

This new update, so far, has allowed the charge behavior to work as intended. Normally, I would remove the cover, read, attach for a quick dip of charge from the cover only for it to charge very little and then show zero charge left with the cover. So far during my trip, I’ve done this about 8 times or so with another recharge of the cover and everything has worked well!

Fingers crossed I didn’t jinx it. But I thought I’d mention this positive behavior with this update.

That's good news. I haven't used my PowerCover for months, but I might try again now.
