When doing these pictures, wouldn't it make sense to eliminate the variable of front lighting? Although they may both be set to the same number (50%, 100%, ...), that doesn't necessarily mean the LEDs/hardware have the same brightness?

Although it's also good to see the pictures from actual use cases.

I see no problem with daylight. It's just the front light that's variable.

I would like to see photos with daylight and no front light as well as indoor light.

Daylight is good as an alternate addition to photos of controlled indoor lighting, but no use to compare photos at different times. Here it varies hugely in brightness and colour. By all means add front light and daylight shots, but the repeatable baseline is indoor only using the same setup.

Of course the gadget sites/blogs can't resist unrealistically editing and don't use a reference card for brightness and contrast so they can make the eink look far whiter and better contrast than reality or make it look far greyer (either by accident or deliberately). They also either write copy that seems either given by maker or maker's most evil competitor. As useless now as HiFi magazines became by the late 1980s.

I wouldn't want to see pics with no frontlight, because that's not how I read and I don't care what unlit screens look like. I want to see differences between lit screens.

Here you go. I never read without the light so it’s irrelevant to me but the HD is left. 2e is right.

How blue or magenta is it if white only.
How even is it?
Any bright bleed at edges
Is the brightness range reasonable (i.e. more 15% isn't madly bright so that at 30% it's visibly on in bright daylight)..
Is there a warm option, or RGB.
Timers?
Auto ambient sense (usually pointless).

Daylight photos at the same time are fine for comparison. I wasn't meaning to take daylight photos at different times to compare. Also, indoor photos should also be taken at the same time so light from the windows won't be an issue.

When I used the photos my iPad took they wouldn’t load. I tried cropping my picture to show just the screens but it still won’t load. Sorry. Not much else I can do.
