Coverting ebook files using Calibre

Hi,

I have a folder of ebooks (100) with mixed file extensions. I can bulk convert these files to my preferred extension (mobi) using Calibre. However, how do I get Calibre to convert the book to mobi, add metadata automatically and delete the original file in a single batch run? Is there a plugin for something like this?

Hope someone can help.

Many thanks

No!

And your plan is fraught with danger.
What if a step fails and the source is deleted?

Ever hear the phrase 'Auto-Incorrect' (coined by Molly Wood of CNETTV)

Are you saving time if the results are wrong (or may have destroyed those that were more correct)?
And Why Mobi (unless you have a K3 or older)? AZW3 is better for newer Kindles (in general) .

K3 can handle KF8. So no need for Mobi if you own a KK or K3.

Many outdated web sites will tell you that mobi is the preferred format, but it's an outdated and less capable format than the azw3 format that calibre can produce. Very old kindles require mobi; even my venerable Kindle Touch can use the azw3 format.

Kindle for iOS/iPadOS will sideload mobi, not kf8 or kfx. So maybe a reason to have mobi files?

But there are decent epub apps on iOS if you are using Calibre?

Many thanks everyone for your input, appreciate it, and apologies for being a novice.

I don't have a Kindle but a Lenovo M8 android tablet. It does have the Kindle app and ReadEra, and I have Calibre on my laptop. I just want all files in the folder the same format (doesn't really matter if it's mobi or something else - does the Kindle app deal with AZW3? - likely so...). During conversion I presume Calibre will add them to it's own library. I have backups, so loss is not a problem.

I just want an automated plugin (or command line?) which will rip through the folder and convert all files therein to one file type without intervention... hope this makes some kind of sense.

Thanks

Use Lithium or Pocketbook (also does TTS) on a Lenovo or any Android Tablet. Then only send epubs.
