Just got an email update mine shipped today and will arrive the 7th not the 20th. No complaints. And it now shows in my devices so I can load in my starter library.

No luck seeing notebooks outside of the Scribe for me.

No luck seeing sticky notes on another Kindle or the Mac Kindle App for me.

If a Scribe owner would send the pdf to amazon and attach what amazon send to the Scribe that should help find out what makes it possible to add notes.
I've done this - please find attached.

Thanks. It looks like they added page numbers and it got 4 times larger in bytes.

I guess the PDF experts will have to give it a look.

It went from PDF 1.4 to 1.6 and looks like a margin was added all the way 'round to add the folios w/o overlaying any content.

I suspect the file size increase was adding the font used for this (Helvetica Neue WGL).

There needs to be an option to not add the folios, and when doing so, the margins should be left as is.

It's simpler than that. Just do it like everyone else's PDF annotation on eink, tablet, mac PC etc. Why do Amazon do this at all? To get copies of everyone's PDFs? It's a crazy system.

I suspect that it is a combination of promoting lock in to their infrastructure and what was easiest for them to implement.

I see the Scribe as being a sideline for Amazon that may not get the attention that a mainstream product would receive from another vendor.

I see some people using this to mark up a daily planner. That would not work for me because I only have my phone when I am out of the house.

A Scribe owner can help the k2pdfopt developer by posting screenshots of the two PDF pages attached to the first post of the thread at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=253579

I guess it might be also helpful for sending those two pages to amazon to enable scribbling and post screenshots of those as well.

Easier to implement PDF annotation without having to send to Amazon. It's some sort of policy decision, not engineering driven.

comparing with elipsa, scribe seems to get a bit better battery life but screen contrast is a bit weak.

Which firmware? Same refresh settings?
Reading regular ebooks, or PDFs or scribbling?
That sounds unlikely about battery life unless Scribe has a much larger battery or much slower CPU.
The Scribe's EMR Wacom is powered from the Scribe. The Elipsa stylus/pen uses an AAAA cell and I've not had to replace it.
Elipsa seems better battery life than the Sage, which while poorer than Libra or PW3 is OK.

I'd be surprised if any much difference in screen. You have to set Original Aura HD H2O, PW3, PW4, Libra, Sage. Oasis , Mars 7.8" and Elipsa side by side in ambient light only to see that:
H2O is best. Likely because no capacitive touch, despite lower resolution.
PW4 slightly the worst.
Not much difference between the rest.
You'd only notice poorer resolution on original H2O & Elipsa on small print or fonts not designed for lower resolution PC/Laptops. Georgia and similar originally MS fonts were for less than 120 dpi. The old ereaders and up to prior Basic are 150 or 167 dpi except for 5" models, and most 10" approx are 227, only Scribe is 300 dpi above 8" size eink.

There does seem to be slight manufacturer variation in screen contrast without front light.
