I don’t like them on iPads as they tend to distort the screen and affect viewing angles and they aren’t the best for watching videos. However i’ve revived my scribe now and whilst I bought it mainly for reading with note taking as bonus, the note taking experience is much better than I thought it would be. As the above review said it feels much more natural to write on the scribe screen than either of my iPads Also the scribe pen has a nicer feel and grip to it than the Apple pencil. I’ve got a case on my pencil but even with that I’ve really liked the feel and grip on either the first or 2nd gen Apple pencil.

I got this one by finite because it was the only one I could get for launch day.

FINTIE Slimshell Case for Kindle Scribe 10.2 inch (2022 Released) - Premium PU Leather Lightweight Book Folio Cover Auto Sleep/Wake with Pen Holder, (Z-Library) https://amzn.eu/d/egP1reg

It came yesterday. I don’t like it so I’m returning it. I’ve ordered the denim fabric Amazon cover, which is now in stock and is coming tomorrow. I would have ordered it initially but it was showing as not Available until February next year until today.

I am looking forward to testing this out later today when mine arrives. I too am focused on reading vs. note taking. I think it will be great for non-fiction work related reading. I use OneNote on my iPad a lot but I was thinking I will experiment with note taking on the Scribe and then e-mailing to my Evernote account so I will have the note on all of my devices.

Any Scribe owners having trouble syncing their full library of Kindle books? Only the items I've purchased in the past year are showing up in my library; when I go to the store and try to download an earlier title to my Scribe (with my "You have acquired/purchased" line clearly visible on the page), the book won't download. I get a generic "Something went wrong" error message.

I am able to surf at Amazon to my contents and devices page and send those books to my Scribe from there, but it's not an ideal solution. Customer service has not been helpful so far, and I'm waiting for a call-back from a specialist.

Not on my scribe but I had a problem when I purchased my paperwhite 5 a few months ago. None of the books in my library would show up for the first few days. Customer service were pretty useless as the advised me to deregister all my devices and send hundreds of books to my paperwhite one by one. After a few days it seemed to sort itself out.

I don't think you'll be able to directly email to Evernote from Scribe: It will be sent to your Amazon email and you'll need to forward it from there. Maybe you can create a Rule to send it along, depending on your email client.

Thanks for the info about a previous experience. I'll hope things sort out eventually! (I've already tried the deregister option, etc.)

Thank you!! That's the one. I didn't find it on the Fintie site so I thought they didn't have one yet. Just ordered it. Thanks again.

I just ordered some third-party replacement tips for Apple Pencil. They are supposed to add enough friction to make it more 'paper like' (and quiet) without any screen protector. We'll see if they help.

That said, I'm not much for handwritten notes, which is why I don't have much interest in Scribe.

And as a reading device, I think it is too big to be of value as a reading device that I'd use regularly. I don't even read on iPads larger than my iPad mini (apart from graphic novels). It's even larger than most of the print books I read back in the olden days. At the type size I prefer, it makes the lines of text too long to parse comfortably (and Kindles don't allow margin adjustment to make them shorter).

Scribe does not currently support 2 columns in Landscape view, which might make it more attractive for reading, but then might be more difficult to hold.

Please share your thoughts on the replacement tips - that sounds very interesting. Can you share a link?

Great point about Landscape view. Using the Kindle app on the iPad (which I use for reading work related non-fiction books) offers Landscape. It's very odd this isn't available at launch.

Confused. My Kindle, under the font A,a header, offers a layout tab with 3 options for margins and 3 options for line spacing. It has done that for as long as I remember. I keep each at the minimum to get the most text per page. Switching to the max setting of both literally cuts the word count per page in half, give or take a word.

The minimum left/right margins on a Kindle tend to be much wider than the minimum margins on most other devices. I tend to add some CSS when creating azw3/KF8 ebooks from epubs to shrink those margins. On a Paperwhite 4, this increases the available screen width by ~9%.

Code:
@media amzn-kf8 {
  html {
    margin-left: -50px;
    margin-right: -50px;
  }
}
