My Kobo Libra 2 is already a nightmare using the built in dictionary in Koreader - it takes ages for it to render a result. I would not want to buy a new device only to discover that dictionary look ups take forever. If it'll be slower than my Nova 3 I might just pass. |

I wouldn't think a quadcore would be much worse than an octocore.
I just don't understand why they are going "backwards". It's not as if battery life has become a problem. Last edited by Renate; 11-10-2022 at 06:44 AM. |

It may be that Onyx believed that a CPU downgrade could work if the Leaf 2 really has a Carta 1200 display that promises faster page turns. No device will be faster than its slowest component. With any eInk device, that's usually the display! Onyx could drop an Apple M2 in there and it wouldn't make much difference. |

Does this show what you think it should?
Code:
$ cat /proc/cpuinfo |

I'm not seeing any sluggishness compared to other Eink devices - or not yet, at least. I'm also not seeing any benefits in battery life, although I grant you that, given the thin body of the Leaf 2, there isn't much room for a battery. I haven't had the Leaf very long, so it may be a few days before I get a real sense of battery life. I really like the display on the Leaf 2 so far. |

If it's not too much hassle I'd really like to see photo of display. Yours is black with flush screen right?

Contrast is better on Libra 2. Not sure if the Onyx frameworks affects it in any way. If I increase the contrast in KOReader from 1.0 to 1.5, it becomes comparable: https://i.imgur.com/K4hEhhP.jpeg. But I think Libra 2 is still better as it has no additional glass layer. I have Leaf 2 White on order as well to compare the screens. Another photo with backlight disabled: https://i.imgur.com/GwkuMn2.jpeg. Onyx screen is whiter, while Kobo screen has better contrast. Last edited by CrazyCoder; 11-10-2022 at 01:25 PM. |

Hmm, my preference for buttons is none as they will always be somewhere you grip.
Still, it's interesting the Leaf 2 (contiguous buttons) vs. Libra 2 (separate buttons). |

Thank you so much!! Libra does look better, wonder if white Leaf will make a difference.

A lot of people complain about the stability of the hardware on Libra devices. If it continues to freeze, I'll return it (still within return window on Amazon). Leaf 2 is a much more capable device and is easier to mod/customize to your needs. Even if it has slightly less contrast, the form factor, lighter weight and the versatility of Android OS make it a better device for me. |

In the US (DigiKey) they seem to rate them in "gram force" (not in Newtons). The range is about 50 gf to 1000 gf. The switches on my key fob clicker are 130 gf. I chose it specifically to be light. Unless your finger is on an actual actuator it's hard to judge what you need. |

The Leaf 2 ticks off more items in my checklist than the Libra or the Oasis would. I have the Note Air 2, but I really don't use the stylus. If I like the Leaf 2 enough, I may sell my Note Air 2. The seven inch display on the Leaf is a good size for book reading. It's light, even in its case. Having Android gives me some options that I wouldn't have on a Kobo or Kindle device. The buttons don't get in the way when I hold the device. So far, so good!
