Manx?
The last native Manx speaker died maybe 1971 or 1972, though there is a bit of a revival of Manx (and Cornish).

Hebrew needs something in the ebook to tell the renderer to use RTL. Greek, or any other LTR language, just needs the font(s) embedded.

What doesn't work is mixing LTR and RTL texts (any language) on the same line with correct justification of flushed Left and Right at the same time. That's awkward on anything. Any trick to have text left flushed and numbers at the end of the line right flushed will work. Numbers are actually RTL (if you want the LSD lined up. Also you add columns from RTL), which is why Hours-minutes-seconds and why ISO date format is yyyy-mm-dd (the worst is USA mm-dd-yy).

Support usually means the User Interface can use the selected language. It needs more than a font. So a Hebrew or Greek reader would need to also know a language on the supported list to have UI text they understand. Some Greeks might not have a second language.

It should be perfect if you use a header with pages / chapter. Pages / book, by practical necessity, are a best effort estimate, and exact accuracy will vary from book to book.

I have both. Pages/chapter in the header and pages/book in the footer. I believe it is the default.

I'm not griping anyway.

Firmware 4.34.20097

I am noticing syncing issues with the new firmware. I purchased six books at kobo.com. The books synced to my iOS Kobo apps and to my Elipsa and Clara HD. So far, so good.

Two of the books were replacing books that I had borrowed from a friend. I only had dogeared bookmarks. No annotations. I made sure there was parity between the older ebooks and the newly purchased versions by manually adding the bookmarks into the newly purchased books. I had the newly purchased book open on my iPhone Kobo app and the older version open on my Clara HD. The bookmarks synced between apps and the ereaders for all the newly purchased books.

This is where things got weird. The bookmarks may have synced, and when selected they load to the proper location, but their entries are all marked “0%” without chapter headings on both ereaders. Also, on the iPhone Kobo app, I moved the books into a collection. This synced for my Clara HD but not for my Elipsa no matter how many times I tapped on sync—even after waiting a while. Also, on the Clara HD and Elipsa the finished percentage were different than on the iPhone app.

I haven’t tested text annotations yet, and I have yet to repair both ereaders to see if that fixes the problem. However, I was wondering if other people had noticed syncing issues with this new firmware.

Update 1: Five minutes after I posted this, last page read synced properly onto my iPhone Kobo app. Perhaps some of this behavior is a server issue.

I have attached some screen shots. I can never tell if this will work properly from Tapatalk, so please let me know if you can’t see them.

Update 2: I repaired and rebooted all devices. Now “last page read” syncing works instantly across devices and reader apps, but the bookmark percentages and locations in those books are still broken. I manually removed then re-added the bookmarks on my Clara HD, and that fixed… Nothing. Everything now says 100% instead of 0%. Then I added the books back to the Clara HD and tapped on sync, and the Kobo crashed. After it rebooted, I resynced and the books re-added to the collection synced to my iOS apps, but not the Elipsa. I think I’d rather read a book than troubleshoot this. LOL

I’m surprised no one else has encountered these issues. As a followup:

1. The collections syncing matter could only be resolved by removing the books from the Clara HD, syncing all devices so that the books were removed from the iOS apps, re-adding the books on the Clara HD, then resyncing again. Only then did they appear on the Elipsa in their designated collection. It seems that I can’t add books to collections from the iOS apps without causing sync issues. Very irritating.

2. “Last page read” and progress parity issues seem to be fixed now. I believe repairing the accounts on all the apps and devices fixed this issue, but it was introduced when my Kobo eReaders autoupdated to the latest firmware.

3. The bookmark issue is still a problem with this firmware. I hope somebody else can verify this. What I have discovered is that only PURCHASED epubs have bookmark issues. Sideloaded epubs all mark proper location percentages and chapter headings. The published epub bookmarks work properly, but are mislabeled as I showed in the attached screenshots above.

Kobo sure seems to be having backend issues this week. I bought a book this morning and it only synced to my Desktop app. The book appeared in purchases, but didn’t appear even in “My Books” on Kobo.com. Neither Minerva nor a Kobo CS agent removing the book then re-adding it fixed the problem. I eventually had the purchase refunded. Considering that I purchase books from Kobo all the time (seven this week), this was an unusual issue, but it happens to me once or twice a year.

Well, I don't sync (ever) and all my books are sideloaded, even my Kobo purchases. So there's no way I could encounter these issues.

I do read the same books on my Sage and Libra, but I just find the place I left off manually. Less bother and less time also, compared to switching wifi on and waiting until the syncing has finished,

Do you run the books through Calibre or kepubify before transferring them, and if so, would the results be different from the KEPUB that you'd get directly from Kobo?

I change the formatting as needed (base font size, line height, margins, text indents) and delete all the redundant stuff (ads, excerpts from other books etc). Sometimes I fix the TOC. So the end result is certainly different than a direct download would be. For the Sage I use the Extended Driver to get a kepub, but for the Libra I use epub.

Edit: I also fix the metadata, so this may also be different than it was in the store, particularly the series name.

How do I enable sideload mode on this firmware?
I've just updated my Libra 2 from its old stock firmware 4.30.18838 to 4.34.20097
So I wanted to try out the new sideload mode that was introduced some firmwares ago, since I'm not using any online (store) functionality.
I thought the way to do that was simply signing out. But that triggered a complete reset. I had to go through the initial setup again. I had to connect to a Wifi network and then sign in. There was no option to skip that.
So what is the proper way to enable sideload mode then?

Edit the file "Kobo ereader.conf" which I think is in .kobo or in a subdirectory of it.
You need a text editor that does Unix file endings, not a word processor or Windows Notepad. Notepad++ works. Any plain text editor on Mac, BSD, Linux etc will work.

Find
[ApplicationPreferences]

Add
SideloadedMode=true

If it's already there and false, edit it to true.

On Mac, BSD, UNIX, Linux you need to enable view of hidden files & folders because the top directory/folder starts with a dot.

Psh. All real men view their Kobo directories in a terminal and make the edits to the conf file via vim.
