Thanks. I went by the release history that does not mention working with Calibre 6. I've not yet installed 6. I'm waiting for the 2nd release that has the the fixes.

I did the same with my books, but it does not work, so I have tried another dictionary, one that is in another post #447 and it finally works!
So I suppose, the problem was the OpenOffice .oxt dictionary.

tengo tiempo usando ese, hasta el momento me ha funcionado bien, uno que otro error, nada considerable.
prueba hasta que aparezca otro y comparas a ver cual es mejor, y avisas a ver si me vale la pena cambiarlo.

Muchas gracias, una pregunta tonta jaja, solo lo agrego al plugin y ya le doy hyphenate, espero unos segundos y listo verdad? es que es mi primera vez con el plugin pero como bien puedes imaginar, buscaba en espanol

el diccionario que subí está comprimido, lo descomprimes en una carpeta, que tendrá dos archivos, el diccionario propiamente dicho y una licencia.
una vez descompreso el archivo en la carpeta, vas a calibre, y abres el setting o configuración del plugin, y clickeas donde dice add dictionary, te abrirá una ventana en donde buscarás la carpeta que descomprimiste con los dos archivos dentro, abres esa carpeta y seleccionas el archivo hyph_es.dic, y le das a aceptar y luego aceptar la ventana de configuración y se cierra.
ya con eso está cargado el diccionario y puedes usar el pluging, seleccionado un libro de la biblioteca, accionas el plugin, seleccionas el formato del libro que quieres dividir en guiones (si es que tienes más de un formato del mismo libro) y aceptas, espera que calibre haga la tarea (te darás cuenta que lo hace y culmina en el extremo inferior derecho de la pantalla de calibre, en donde te indica si está realizando alguna tarea) y listo.

Muchas gracias, me funciono! tengo un kobo que justo consegui hoy jaja ahi lo probe primero y funciono dandole "enviar" al libro, despues lo intente reconvirtiendo el libro a epub y arrastrandolo a la memoria pero veo que no agrega los guiones por default, siempre tengo que enviarlo medinate calibre, o hago algo mal para poder agregarle guiones aunque arrastre los libros a los que aplico el plugin?

por lo que entiendo que dices, creo que estás hablando, en conclusión, del mismo libro pero en dos formatos distintos, de ser así, hasta donde he podido ver y hacer, es necesario que le apliques el plugin a cada formato antes de enviarlo al lector.

I am experiencing an issue with Hyphenate This and I hope someone can help me out resolving it.

I use this function for books in Serbian language, which is a language that uses two alphabets, Cyrillic and Latin; that is, a book in Serbian can be printed in each of the two and the population can read equally well both of them.

I downloaded two hyphenation dictionaries. The one for the Latin alphabet is titled "Serbo-Croatian" and when I change the metadata of the Latin epub from the Serbian language to Serbo-Croatian and run the Hyphenate This it works perfectly.

However, the Cyrillic dictionary is titled just Serbian and it downs work. The Cyrillic epubs, which I leave as being in the Serbian language in metadata, are never hyphenated. I tried using the OXT file, but it didn't produce any results. I should mention that no error is reported when I do the process, everything looks fine until I check the epub file and word is hyphenated.

While I can find many ebooks in both alphabets and thus chose the Latin one to transfer to my kobo, some books are available only in Cyrillic.

Any idea what could be the problem?

IIRC the problem is down to the fact that plugin keeps only one hyphenation dictionary for Serbian language, so the one that you installed last is the one that is available to be used and thus if plugin has stored Serbian Latin dictionary trying to hyphenate ebook that is using Serbian Cyrillic alphabet will not and cannot works if dictionary rules mismatch the alphabet characters being used in a book. If you then install Serbian Cyrillic dictionary hyphenating Serbian Latin books will stop working.

In other words whenever you install Serbian language hyphenation dictionary you overwrite the already existing Serbian dictionary.

In order to hyphenate both alphabets your only choice is to reinstall the correct dictionary moments before trying to hyphenate a ebook. So, you as an user are forced to either somehow keep track of what dictionary & alphabet you used last time you used this plugin or "just" always reinstall the dictionary that matches the alphabet used by the book you intend to hyphenate.

I don't thing that even Calibre itself distinguishes between Serbian Latin and Serbian Cyrillic, as language metadata value.

Given that you have a Kobo and you are trying to add soft-hyphens to ePub, it's not going to work properly. RMSDK which is used to read ePub on a Kobo doesn't handle this well.

You would be best linking to these dictionaries and posting the language code you use for each language and I may be able to build hyphenation dictionaries that can be used with your Kobo that should work instead of trying to use soft-hyphens that won't work.

Right, but the dictionaries for two alphabets are already in two distinct files, recognized by Calibre as two separate languages. I got them here: https://devbase.net/dict-sr/

The Cyrillic one is hyph_sr and I use it only for the Cyrillic books, but it doesn't work. I don't see any issues here. Though I did upload the epub instead of the kepub file, but I don't mind that since I don't really need all the features of kepub for the books in my language.

I don't see any issues here. Though I did upload the epub instead of the kepub file, but I don't mind that since I don't really need all the features of kepub for the books in my language.

One thing you cannot do is a search. The soft-hyphens get in the way.
