Being a library book, I didn't look at the code. I would have been viewing kepub from the Kobo store on my Sage.

It would absolutely make sense to have code to prevent the double display of the conversations, but perhaps that somehow didn't work with kepub? Dunno.

Displaying both image and text was unnecessary and obnoxious. Aside from the issue of images of text being horrid for accessibility anyway....

Try downloading the ePub from the library and viewing that version. Maybe the problem is the KePub conversion or the KePub software. I know it works as ePub.

I'm rereading a fantasy novel. It's from a major publisher, but there are various errors in the text. Just now I stumbled upon this gem:

"When the door anally swung open..."

I'm guessing it should be finally. This actually made me pause and my eyes crossed, trying to imagine how a door can swing anally open.

A character who is 62 is in his seventh decade, not his sixth. I see this all the time, even in news stories. The math isn’t hard!

Man, I was thinking to myself, WELL, that certainly puts Sherlock and John's relationship in a whole new light....

There was this famous typo in a shifter romance:

He stiffened for a moment but then she felt his muscles loosen as he shitted on the ground.

It should have been "shifted", of course. The author apologized for this mistake on her website, but it's become pretty infamous since then.

Books that change their cover to show the movie/tv show/netflix series/whatever promotional images.

Or even worse, fake stickers. Even on eBook covers, it still obscures part of the cover. And on one of my physical books I nearly tore the book cover before I realized it wasn't actually a sticker.

That's as bad a celebrating the 21st century a year too early. 2001 is the first year of the 21st century. And i bet that the 22nd century will also be celebrated a year too early.
