I guess the only way would be to use Sideloaded mode and load all your e-books manually, so you have full control over what's on your device.

Yes, that's fair. We don't know much about their - or Netronix's? - manufacturing processes, but it is a start. I think Kobo's said that future devices will also be made with more recycled materials.

Question: Does this use capacitive input or IR input (i.e. works with regular gloves)? I would have assumed that raised bezel meant IR but I've only found one reviewer (with a BadE track record) say it's capacitive while the others don't say either way.

I don't know about the new Clara specifically, but Kobo has not used an IR screen for years. Both the Libra 1 and Libra 2 have a raised bezel, but are capacitive.

It's definitely capacitive. I don't think you'll see another IR one again at this point.

Try using the filter Downloaded on the device. Then it should only show you items you’ve downloaded to the device so if you’ve not downloaded the audiobooks you won’t see them on the device. Not even with the option to download. I believe the default is All so change it to downloaded.

I got the Clara 2e myself and I too won’t use it for audiobooks. That’s what my iPod is for.

I'll likely be buying a 2E to replace the Glowlight 3. My poor Glowlight 3. I'm pretty sure the database has been corrupted since soon after I got it. It just scrambles books on the Home scree when it is supposed to show current reads and most recent uploads. It also seemingly rebuilds the database every time I eject it and can't remember what book I was currently reading.

The books are all on the device and if I search and open my current read it remembers where I was. But it's annoying.

My 2015 Glowlight Plus runs the same software and doesn't have any of these issues, so I know it is my specific device rather than buggy software.

I'd be tempted to buy the 4 instead of the 2E. But I want the waterproofing and Nook's memory partitioning hijinks was too much for me.

So I'm just waiting for Black Friday or whatever other upcoming sale there will be on the 2E.

Just when I had decided to bite the bullet and get a 2E, the UK Kobo site has sold out! Damn. And there is nowhere else to get them here, no physical shop sells them. So it's completely unavailable for the moment.
