Then it's 6.5 for ever.
FWIW: all of my relatives and my friends (all over 50 y.o) have only 1 monitor :P |

Main screen on bottom and most of my work is done there. Top of the bottom screen is at eye level. Not ideal, but it works and now used to it after 4+ years. |

Many of the people who spend time at MR are multiple monitor equipped 'techies', but they represent a minuscule fraction of the 3M+ active calibre users. BR |

Having the window not remember its position is a smaller problem than having it popup on incorrect monitors. If and when Qt fixes their bug or I find the time to re-implement window position remembering functionality robustly in calibre code remembering window positions will be restored, until then you will have to live with the window being positioned by the OS.

The argument is moot. Kovid already explained his reasoning for not addressing what is essentially a minor inconvenience at the current time. That is (rightfully) his prerogative.

As for multiple monitors users, there is another bug : when you move the shortcut icon of Calibre from Monitor 1 to Monitor 2, something very strange occur : the whole Calibre window forgets its position and spans within all the space available on the 2 monitors ! You have to manually resize it every time, or move back the shortcut to its original monitor. Very annoying for people who like to have their shortcuts grouped on one monitor and applications launch on the other. I'm using Windows 10 with nVidia drivers.
I already mentioned this bug here, but got no answer... |

Most interesting: I mostly have Calibre pined to the task bar and it opens where I left it (2nd monitor that is OVER the main)
I moved the shortcut to the top monitor, and it opened on the Main (lower) In both cases, the splash was on the Main. Standard Dell Intel drivers |

It could be tied to the nVidia driver, but I doubt it, because no application, so far, happen to behave that way on my system... |
