Received and liking this little device. Only other six inch devices I've owned have been older Kindles, the Kindle Voyage, Pocketbook Color, and a Nook GlowLight 4.

Kobo does grippy backs of devices well, so suffice to say this device also hits in terms of that feeling.

Definitely also see the "two dots" when you angle the screen to see below the bezel. Not bothersome as I not often look at the screen that way, but thought I'd mention it.

The use case for this device is a unique one for me. I've been using a Sage as my at-home reader currently. I'm going to be using the Clara 2e as my reader when picking up my daughters from school and have some time to kill... so it's primarily going to be in my vehicle. It will be without a cover, as I hope to be able to subject it to weather (such as rain - waterproofing and all) and still have the device work well.

I think it should be supported given that every Kobo reader uses the same base OS, but there could be some device specific quirks.
Thanks for any reply

Just got my Clara 2E and immediately installed KOReader. Unfortunately, while it installed without issue, it won't actually run. Upon opening it I immediately get a crash error, specifically that it is running on an unsupported model.

My guess is that the KOReader just needs a simple update to recognize the Clara 2E as a support model, probably nothing more complicated than that.

Before installing something like KOReader, you should check to see if it is compatible with a new Kobo. I had to wait before I could install KOReader on my Libra 2.

Question: Is that (or the CPUs in Sage or Elipsa) 64 bit? I'm looking at the (I assume) bugged kobo6 update package that also includes the Bluetooth and stylus stuff, and I noticed the foxit library file name has _linux64 at the end. Are those things running 64 bit kernels? If I were to flash the full version of the update rather than the one I manually stripped myself, would Foxit actually run on my Glo HD?

Whoops, good point, edited for clarity. (I meant dimensions; AFAIK, both are using a Carta 1200 or whatever the actual name is ;p).

Nope, aarch32 on both.

The Sage/Elipsa run on an AllWinner B300 (4x Cortex A7 @ 1.8GHz)
The rest of the Mk7+ (possibly 6+, can never remember) devices run on an NXP i.MX 6SL(L) SoC (1x Cortex A9 @ 1GHz).

I'm not around the Sage right now, but I would guess the foxit stuff is an oversight, or just what it was *built* on (as opposed to what it was built *for*) .

EDIT: I'm, err, not seeing anything wrong in the current kobo6 package, FWIW:

The problem is that I don't think the Foxit stuff, the Bluetooth stuff, and the stylus stuff is even supposed to be in the kobo6 package to begin with. At least, it wasn't in 4.33 and kobo7 never got it in 4.34 either. So either all the Mk6 devices have Bluetooth chips and active digitizers that we didn't know about, OR this might be a mistake?

Personally, I'm not even sure I can flash the stock kobo6 package on my Glo HD without running out of space as I only have 15 mb free (in part to replacing Georgia/Avenir with Kurinto and running your stock Kobo Stuff package); I manually removed all new files except for the storage and blkid stuff before flashing it. So I feel like kobo6 is packaged wrongly in 4.34.

Edit: I guess the file I was wondering about was libfsdk_linux64.so, but you're right; 32-bit compiled.

Code:
file libfsdk_linux64.so
libfsdk_linux64.so: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, ARM, EABI5 version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, BuildID[sha1]=502e9dd5723fab6c5cd9408b8382e5c8c8b4b568, stripped

Three previous fonts are gone from the Clara 2E: Caecilia, Gill Sans, Malabar. I did like to use Gill Sans sometimes.

Those three fonts still appear on the Clara HD, along with the two new Rakuten fonts.

Out of curiosity, to those who own both the Clara HD and 2E, is the reading experience much different?

That's a shame. Gil Sans is my goto font on the Kobos.

If you run Windows, you may have Gill Sans and can side load it.

Apparently created in 1928 by Eric Gill

You can't libel or slander the dead. At least in UK no-one can sue you. Eric Gill died in 1940.

Some people are refusing to distrubute or use Gill Sans or anything else by Eric Gill
This is why

Warning, worse stuff in link than excerpt below which is bad:
Quote:
Although the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography describes Gill as ″the greatest artist-craftsman of the twentieth century: a letter-cutter and type designer of genius″, he remains a figure of considerable controversy following revelations of his sexual abuse of two of his daughters.
The old controversy of should we shun creative works of the past because the creator was a "monster"?

Deleted.

If the creator is dead, I don't care what they've done. I'll judge their works separately from the author's life, deeds and misdeeds.

After all, no one is perfect and we all have done things we regret (or should). Of course abuse, crime etc. should be condemned; but the creative works of the perpetrator should be judged on their own merit IMO.

Also the three named fonts still remain on my Sage and Libra 2, as with a different issue I haven't tested my Forma or H2O v1 because they are drained and I don't want to find my micro usb cable. So I suspect it's either user error, or the update for that device specifically. Unless others are seeing it removed from a wider range of devices.
