I also liked the nostalgia things, but if you haven't seen the original films you're not missing out on things. My sister really enjoyed it and she knows she's seen the first film but can't remember anything about it.

She loved the Sarah Millican show, she now wants to watch the other shows, too. And when Sarah Millican visits the Netherlands again she wants to go see her live.

Tonight we watched the first six episodes of Devil in Ohio. I think my sister is enjoying it more than I am. I feel like they are horror-baiting. They promise spooky things, which never materializes. At least not so far. We'll finish the series tomorrow.

We've also decided to watch the new version of Dune tomorrow whilst having dinner (cheese fondue). I've seen at least part of the original movie, but can't remember much besides that the desert scene(s) were very orange coloured.

Sounds similar. We didn't watch it together, but my sister liked it and I didn't. In the spirit of finding something good to say about it: I thought the level of detail that went into fleshing out the cult (their history, their "bible", their deliciously creepy hymns) was fairly impressive. A bit excessive for an 8 episode limited series, maybe, but impressive nonetheless.

The most frightening thing about the show was the number of chin-dimples on the screen at any given time. It was like a convention!

I will say that the new movie of the first half of the novel Dune is really quite good and faithful, by and large, to Herbert's work. Far more so than Lynch's version and most others.

I'll be interested to see the rest. Of course, then again, I'd love to see the entire "real" series (through Chapterhouse) done...but I don't expect that. for one thing, bless his heart, Herbert was woefully inconsistent about the powers or abilities of the Kwisatz Haderach...which wreaks havoc particularly through the first 3 books. Oh, well.

Well, this is almost embarrassing, but talking of nostalgia...I actually spent an hour last night watching part of (wait for it) Thunderbirds are Go! on TCM's streaming channel. They also have another one of the "Supermarionation" epics (mwahahahaha) and I think I might have a mini-marathon...me, some Thunderbirds and maybe some bonbons or the like, this coming weekend. For those of us of a certain age, it's a bit like...heck, I don't know what much-younger people would equate this to, to be honest.

I know, goofy as hell, but sometimes, you just NEED a little goof. FAB!

Last night we first finished Devil in Ohio, and I agree with DiapDealer about the excessive amount of dimpled chins (once you see it you can't unsee it). My opinion hasn't changed; it was an okay series.

We also watched the new version of Dune, which we both loved.

Tonight we're watching the latest episode of House of the Dragon, after that I'll see if I can interest my sister in the British series Red Rose, which seems like an interesting series to me.

We caught up with Hinterland seasons 2 & 3. It was worth the effort it takes to get into it - good noir in a backdrop of bleak but beautiful Welsh coastlines.

I enjoyed that show quite a bit. I'm always hoping to see a new season pop up, but...

I understand they filmed dialogue scenes in both Welsh and English.

I think that's the case with most Welsh shows - not sure if it was Hinterland but one had a behind-the-scenes showing how they would alternate - scene 1 in English, scene 1&2 in Welsh, 2&3 in English etc.

IIRC S3 was 2016 so a S4 seems unlikely at this point. I did see the lead actor in another British show not too long ago.

We watched the first episode of the British teen horror series Red Rose. Which didn't do it for either of us. I might give it another episode next week to see how the story develops and whether to continue or not.

We also watch the Class Action Park documentary. Because my sister loves documentaries about silly and/or unbelievable things as much as I do (Lularoe, Beanie Babies, etc).
