[Metadata Download issue] Diacritical Characters

Hi
I usually add books to calibre library once per month. (appx 20-30 items)
Then I bulk search, download metadadata and covers.
It used to be problematicless process but since a year the metadata search returns proper data for books that contain precisely correct diacritics in both authors and title field name only.
If an author or book title is written correctly (ie. containing all the diacritics ) callibre finds the relevant metada.
Even If only one diactritical character is missing ( ie. writen in english characters only ) it does not find the data.

Any way to solve the issue?

depends on which metadata download plugin you are using. Post the log from the metadata download dialog

I have used the Calibre built in plugins that are set to check for a data in Google and amazon.

Thanks. Thew trouble is I not much of a programmist and do not know what to do with the python file. I can see the changes you did. but ... thats all..Any short explanation or a link to thereof,pls ?

This just means that the next release of cakibre will include that fix.

From Calibre what's new section:

"Google metadata download: When excluding results from a web search because they don't match the specified title/author ignore diacritics, accents, etc."

I'm scurrying to give it a try to the new version.

I notice web results without tbm parameter return relevant results as in
https://www.google.com/search?q=Narz...y+Jeremy+Black

While book search results return entirely irrelevant hits:
https://www.google.com/search?q=Narz...+Black&tbm=bks
This one looks to deliver personalized results, according to user location and previous searches.
